Abstract

A method, system and program product for automatic distribution of emergency data during an emergency. The method includes loading an emergency planning and coordination program onto a computer system connected to a Voice over IP network and inputting emergency data for a location into the program. The method includes storing the data inputted to a database coupled to the system, and automatically transmitting, responsive to confirming receipt of a communication corresponding to an emergency number stored in the database, pertinent data from the emergency data accessed from the database to another computer system of an emergency service provider for distribution to one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to the emergency situation at the location, wherein the pertinent data transmitted to the respective devices used by the emergency responders available facilitates handling of the emergency situation at the location.

Claims

1. A method for communicating information, said method comprising the steps of:

inputting emergency data for a location into an emergency planning and coordination program loaded onto a computer system connected to a communications network;

storing said emergency data inputted to a database coupled to said computer system connected to said communications network;

accessing, responsive to a communication received regarding an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, said emergency data for said location stored on said database coupled to said computer system in order to confirm whether or not said communication received corresponds to a preset piece of emergency data stored in said database; and

automatically transmitting, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said preset piece of emergency data stored in said database, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database to another computer system of an emergency service provider for distribution of said pertinent data to one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation at said location, wherein said pertinent data transmitted to said one or more respective devices used by said emergency responders available facilitates handling of said emergency situation at said location.

2. A method according to claim 1, wherein said communications network comprises a Voice over IP (VoIP) communications network.

3. A method according to claim 2, wherein said emergency data comprises at least one of:

one or more predefined emergency responder telephone numbers to be dialed in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder e-mail addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, a detailed floor plan of said location of said computer system, room-specific information for said location, names of each occupant residing at said location, age of said each occupant residing at said location, a respective location of a room occupied by a child, a respective location of a room occupied by an elderly person, a respective location of a room occupied by a disabled person, allergy-related information for said each occupant residing at said location, any medical conditions relevant to said each occupant residing at said location, respective e-mail addresses of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective telephone numbers of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective e-mail addresses of one or more emergency responders to be contacted who service said location, respective locations of any flammables kept at said location, respective locations of any poisonous chemicals kept at said location, and any other emergency-type information.

4. A method according to claim 3, wherein said accessing step further comprises the steps of:

receiving a request to connect a call to a respective device corresponding to a phone number dialed;

confirming that said phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database; and

connecting, responsive to confirming that said phone number dialed corresponds to said emergency phone number stored in said database, said call to said respective device corresponding to said phone number dialed.

5. A method according to claim 4, wherein said automatically transmitting step further comprises the step of:

receiving, from within said location using an in-network communications device coupled to said communications network, said request to connect said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said phone number dialed corresponds to said emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said phone number dialed, and wherein said in-network communications device comprises at least one of;

a VoIP phone, a phone with a VoIP adapter, and a computer system connected to said VoIP network.

6. A method according to claim 4, wherein said automatically transmitting step further comprises the step of:

receiving, from outside said location using an out-of-network device coupled to another network, said request to connect said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said phone number dialed corresponds to said emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said phone number dialed.

7. A method according to claim 4, wherein said automatically transmitting step further comprises the step of:

automatically transmitting, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said preset piece of emergency data stored in said database, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database of said computer system to another computer system coupled to an emergency service provider network for distribution of said pertinent data to said one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation.

8. A computer system for communicating information during an emergency situation, said computer system comprising:

first program instructions to input emergency data for a location into an emergency planning and coordination program loaded onto a computer system connected to a communications network;

second program instructions to store said emergency data inputted to a database coupled to said computer system connected to said communications network;

third program instructions to access, responsive to a communication received regarding an occurrence of an emergency situation at said location, said emergency data for said location stored on said database coupled to said computer system, said third program instructions including instructions to confirm whether or not said communication received corresponds to a preset piece of emergency data stored in said database;

fourth program instructions to automatically transmit, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said preset piece of emergency data stored in said database, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database to another computer system of an emergency service provider for distribution of said pertinent data to one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation at said location, wherein said pertinent data transmitted to said one or more respective devices used by said emergency responders available facilitates handling of said emergency situation at said location;

a computer readable storage medium, said computer readable storage medium storing each of said first, second, third and fourth program instructions; and

a central processing unit for executing each of said first, second, third and fourth program instructions.

9. The computer system according to claim 8, wherein said communications network comprises a Voice over IP (VoIP) communications network.

10. The computer system according to claim 9, wherein said first program instructions include instructions to load an emergency planning and coordination program onto said computer system connected to said communications network.

11. The computer system according to claim 10, wherein said emergency data comprises at least one of:

one or more predefined emergency responder telephone numbers to be dialed in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder e-mail addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, a detailed floor plan of said location of said computer system, room-specific information for said location, names of each occupant residing at said location, age of said each occupant residing at said location, a respective location of a room occupied by a child, a respective location of a room occupied by an elderly person, a respective location of a room occupied by a disabled person, allergy-related information for said each occupant residing at said location, any medical conditions relevant to said each occupant residing at said location, respective e-mail addresses of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective telephone numbers of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective e-mail addresses of one or more emergency responders to be contacted who service said location, respective locations of any flammables kept at said location, respective locations of any poisonous chemicals kept at said location, and any other emergency-type information.

The computer system according to claim 11, wherein said third program instructions include instructions to receive a request, from within said location using an in-network communications device coupled to said communications network, to connect said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, and wherein said in-network communications device comprises at least one of:

a VoIP phone, a phone with a VoIP adapter, and a computer system connected to said VoIP network.

The computer system according to claim 11, wherein said third program instructions include instructions to receive a request, from outside said location using an out-of-network device coupled to another network, to connect said call to a respective device corresponding to an emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed.

The computer system according to claim 11, wherein said fourth program instructions include instructions to automatically transmit, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said emergency phone number stored in said database, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database of said computer system to another computer system coupled to an emergency service provider network for distribution of said pertinent data to said one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation.

15. A computer program product for communicating information, said computer program product comprising:

a computer readable storage medium;

first program instructions to input emergency data for a location into an emergency planning and coordination program loaded onto a computer system connected to a communications network;

second program instructions to store said emergency data inputted to a database coupled to said computer system connected to said communications network; and

third program instructions to access, responsive to a communication received regarding an occurrence of an emergency situation at said location, said emergency data for said location stored on said database coupled to said computer system, said third program instructions including instructions to confirm whether or not said communication received corresponds to a preset piece of emergency data stored in said database; and

fourth program instructions to automatically transmit, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said preset piece of emergency data stored in said database, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database to another computer system of an emergency service provider for distribution of said pertinent data to one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation at said location, wherein said pertinent data transmitted to said one or more respective devices used by said emergency responders available facilitates handling of said emergency situation at said location, and wherein said first, second, third and fourth program instructions are recorded on said computer readable storage medium.

16. The computer program product according to claim 15, wherein said communications network comprises a Voice over IP (VoIP) communications network.

17. The computer program product according to claim 16, wherein said first program instructions include instructions to load an emergency planning and coordination program onto said computer system connected to said communications network.

18. The computer program product according to claim 17, wherein said first program instructions include instructions to input said emergency data comprising at least one of:

one or more predefined emergency responder telephone numbers to be dialed in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder e-mail addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, a detailed floor plan of said location of said computer system, room-specific information for said location, names of each occupant residing at said location, age of said each occupant residing at said location, a respective location of a room occupied by a child, a respective location of a room occupied by an elderly person, a respective location of a room occupied by a disabled person, allergy-related information for said each occupant residing at said location, any medical conditions relevant to said each occupant residing at said location, respective e-mail addresses of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective telephone numbers of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective e-mail addresses of one or more emergency responders to be contacted who service said location, respective locations of any flammables kept at said location, respective locations of any poisonous chemicals kept at said location, and any other emergency-type information.

The computer program product according to claim 18, wherein said third program instructions include instructions to receive a request, from within said location using an in-network communications device coupled to said communications network, to connect said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, and wherein said in-network communications device comprises at least one of:

a VoIP phone, a phone with a VoIP adapter, and a computer system connected to said VoIP network.

The computer program product according to claim 18, wherein said third program instructions include instructions to receive a request, from outside said location using an out-of-network device coupled to another network, to connect said call to a respective device corresponding to an emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, said call is connected to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed.

21. A process for deploying computing infrastructure comprising integrating computer-readable code into a computing system, wherein said code in combination with said computing system is capable of performing a process for communicating information, said process comprising:

loading an emergency planning and coordination program onto a computer system, said computer system being connected to a communications network;

storing, in a database couple to said computer system connected to said communications network, emergency data inputted for a location, using said emergency planning and coordination program loaded onto said computer system;

accessing, responsive to a communication received regarding an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, said emergency data for said location stored on said database coupled to said computer system in order to confirm whether or not said communication received corresponds to a preset piece of emergency data stored in said database; and

automatically transmitting, responsive to confirming that said communication received corresponds to said preset piece of emergency data stored in said database coupled to said computer system, pertinent data from said emergency data accessed from said database to another computer system coupled to an emergency service provider network and for distribution of said pertinent data to one or more respective devices used by respective emergency responders available to respond to said emergency situation at said location, wherein said pertinent data transmitted to said one or more respective devices used by said emergency responders available facilitates handling of said emergency situation at said location.

22. The process according to claim 21, wherein said communications network comprises a Voice over IP (VoIP) communications network.

23. The process according to claim 22, wherein said emergency data comprises at least one of:

one or more predefined emergency responder telephone numbers to be dialed in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder e-mail addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, one or more predefined emergency responder IP (Internet Protocol) addresses for sending electronic mail in case of an occurrence of said emergency situation at said location, a detailed floor plan of said location of said computer system, room-specific information for said location, names of each occupant residing at said location, age of said each occupant residing at said location, a respective location of a room occupied by a child, a respective location of a room occupied by an elderly person, a respective location of a room occupied by a disabled person, allergy-related information for said each occupant residing at said location, any medical conditions relevant to said each occupant residing at said location, respective e-mail addresses of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective telephone numbers of one or more persons to be contacted in case of said occurrence of said emergency situation, respective e-mail addresses of one or more emergency responders to be contacted who service said location, respective locations of any flammables kept at said location, respective locations of any poisonous chemicals kept at said location, and any other emergency-type information.

24. The process according to claim 23, wherein said accessing step further comprises the step of:

receiving a request, from within said location using an in-network communications device coupled to said communications network, to connect said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, connecting said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed, and wherein said in-network communications device comprises at least one of;

a VoIP phone, a phone with a VoIP adapter, and a computer system connected to said VoIP network.

25. The process according to claim 23, wherein said accessing step further comprises the step of:

receiving a request, from outside said location using an out-of-network device coupled to another network, to connect said call to a respective device corresponding to an emergency phone number dialed, wherein responsive to confirming that said emergency phone number dialed corresponds to an emergency phone number stored in said database, connecting said call to said respective device corresponding to said emergency phone number dialed.
