Abstract

Defect-free printing is achieved by previewing on a display prior to printing, device functions and print specifications. Preview of double-sided faces is concurrently provided when double-sided printing is specified. Display is performed by generation of data which allows print preview that reflects consideration of device information and document data. Data is generated for perspective-reverse-face preview when page-specification information is set for double-sided faces.

89. An information processing apparatus for displaying a preview image based on document data generated by an application, comprising:

a setting unit constructed to set a layout attribute to place a plurality of pages on a printing face of a sheet;

a display controlling unit constructed to display a preview image indicating a first printing face on which the plurality of pages have been placed based on the layout attribute set by the setting unit and the document data; and

a deleting unit constructed to delete a single page of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the preview image displayed by said display controlling unit;

wherein said display controlling unit displays the preview image indicating the first printing face on which (1) a page to be not deleted by said deleting unit of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the first printing face and (2) a single page of a plurality of pages to have been placed on a second printing face following the first printing face have been placed, when the single page was deleted by said deleting unit.

90. The information processing apparatus according to claim 89, wherein the setting unit sets the layout attribute in accordance with an instruction input via a setting screen of a printer driver.

91. The information processing apparatus according to claim 89, wherein the deleting unit deletes the single page selected by a user via the preview image displayed by the display controlling unit.

96. The computer-readable storage medium according to claim 89, wherein the setting code sets the layout attribute in accordance with an instruction input via a setting screen of a printer driver.

97. The computer-readable storage medium according to claim 89, wherein the deleting code deletes the single page selected by a user via the preview image displayed by the display controlling code.

92. A method of controlling preview display of document data generated by an application, comprising:

a setting step of setting a layout attribute to place a plurality of pages on a printing face of a sheet;

a display controlling step of displaying a preview image indicating a first printing face on which the plurality of pages have been placed based on the layout attribute set by the setting step and the document data; and

a deleting step of deleting single page of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the preview image displayed by said display controlling step;

wherein said display controlling step displays the preview image indicating the first printing face on which (1) a page to be not deleted by said deleting step of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the first printing face and (2) a single page of a plurality of pages to have been placed on a second printing face following the first printing face have been placed, when the single page was deleted by said deleting step.

93. The method according to claim 92, wherein the setting step sets the layout attribute in accordance with an instruction input via a setting screen of a printer driver.

94. The method according to claim 92, wherein the deleting step deletes the single page selected by a user via the preview image displayed by the display controlling step.

95. A computer-readable storage medium storing a computer-executable program for controlling preview display of document data generated by an application, the program comprising:

a setting code for setting a layout attribute to place a plurality of pages on a printing face of a sheet;

a display controlling code for displaying a preview image indicating a first printing face on which the plurality of pages have been placed based on the layout attribute set by the setting code and the document data; and

a deleting code for deleting a single page of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the preview image displayed by said display controlling code;

wherein said display controlling code displays the preview image indicating the first printing face on which (1) a page to be not deleted by said deleting code of the plurality of pages to have been placed on the first printing face and (2) a single page of a plurality of pages to have been placed on a second printing face following the first printing face have been placed, when the single page was deleted by said deleting code.
