METHODS OF SECURING AN OBJECT OVER AN OPENING
First Claim
1. The method of securing an object with respect to an opening in a structure, said opening being at least partially defined by a first surface and a second surface that intersect one another, said method comprising:
- (a) providing a first fastening member having first and second legs, and a second fastening member having third and fourth legs;
(b) providing a coupling element movable along the second leg of the first fastening member;
(c) inserting the first leg of the first fastening member into the first surface, and inserting the third leg of the second fastening member into the second surface;
(d) moving the first and second fastening members relative to one another whereby the second leg of the first fastening member is oriented relative to the fourth leg of the second fastening member so that the coupling element may be moved into engagement with the fourth leg to releasably connect the first and second fastening members in a position to secure the object with respect to the opening.

Abstract
A fastener device for releasably securing an object within an opening formed in a structure comprises a first fastening member and a second fastening member each having a pair of legs which are oriented at an angle relative to one another. A coupling element is movable along one of the legs of at least one of the first and second fastening members. One leg of each fastening member is inserted into a hole formed in the structure surrounding the opening allowing the other leg to pivot, preferably in a trochoidal motion, until the pivoting legs align with one another at which time the coupling element may be moved into engagement with the two pivoting legs to releasably connect the fastening members together in position to secure the object relative to the opening.

6. The method of securing an object with respect to an opening formed in a structure, said opening defining a wall, said method comprising:
-
(a) providing a first fastening member having first and second legs, and a second fastening member having third and fourth legs; (b) providing a coupling element movable along the second leg of the first fastening member; (c) inserting the first leg of the first fastening member into the wall at a first location, and inserting the second leg of the second fastening member into the wall at a second location spaced from the first location; (d) moving the first and second fastening members relative to one another whereby the second leg of the first fastening member is oriented relative to the fourth leg of the second fastening member so that the coupling element may be moved into engagement with the fourth leg to releasably connect the first and second fastening members in a position to secure the object with respect to the opening. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9)

10. The method of at least partially covering a window, door or other structure mounted within an opening in a building or other structure, comprising:
-
(a) positioning a panel over the window, door or other opening; (b) providing a first fastening member having first and second legs, and a second fastening member having third and fourth legs; (c) providing a coupling element movable along the second leg of the first fastening member; (d) inserting the first leg of the first fastening member into a first wall formed by the opening in the building, and inserting the third leg of the second fastening member into a second wall formed by the opening in the building; (e) moving the first and second fastening members relative to one another whereby the second leg of the first fastening member is oriented relative to the fourth leg of the second fastening member so that the coupling element may be moved into engagement with the fourth leg to releasably connect the first and second fastening members together in a position to secure the panel between the first and second fastening members and the window, door or other structure mounted within the opening. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14)
