1. An orbitally or lineally oscillating orthopedic resurfacing tool used to resurface bone ends in the orthopedic surgical repair or reconstruction of hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist, or other joints in preparation for the installation of corrective prosthetic components comprising:

  • a motor housing containing a battery or power-pack driven electric motor or air driven pneumatic motor which rotates a shaft having an eccentric end with a bearing mounted there on;

    a removable and replaceable cutting head having a cutting or sanding surface mounted onto the said bearing which is mounted onto the eccentric end of the rotated shaft so as to orbitally or lineally oscillate the said cutting head to resurface a bone end so as to be fitted with an intended prosthesis;

    the said removable and replaceable cutting head being flexibly located and retained by a removable and replaceable elastomeric cover which said removable and replaceable elastomeric cover fits onto and is located by the motor housing;

    the said removable and replaceable cutting head being replaceable by one of many interchangeable and replaceable sanding or cutting heads each of which is specifically shaped so as to resurface a unique bone end in the hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, wrist, or other joints and each of which other removable and replaceable cutting heads is flexibly located and retained by a similar but unique removable and replaceable elastomeric cover;

    the said removable and replaceable elastomeric cover incorporating a containment cup which is designed to seal against the bone end to be resurfaced so as to contain the debris created in the bone resurfacing process;
