Abstract

Disclosed are systems, methods, and computer readable media for providing a collaborative communication environment. The method embodiment comprises receiving user profiles, establishing a collaborative communication environment where a plurality of users simultaneously interact over a network, converting data to be sent to each user in a collaborative environment based on the respective user'"'"'s profile, and presenting a localized experience to each user using the converted data.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method of providing a collaborative communication environment, the method comprising:

receiving a first user profile and a second user profile having culture preferences, the user profiles associated with a network-enabled collaborative multiuser communication environment;

converting interaction data between a first user and a second user into culturally acceptable data based on the first user profile and the second user profile; and

presenting at least one of speech and image data to the second user based on the converted interaction data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the interaction data relates to a network game.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein converting the interaction data further comprises converting generically generated data into data that is more culturally acceptable to the second user based on the second user profile.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the interaction data is converted further based on real-time information.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising presenting text data to the second user based on the second user'"'"'s profile.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein user profiles include at least one of a preferred language, culture, race, and/or personal preferences.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein personal preferences include at least one of an age-based restriction and an offensiveness threshold.

20. The method of claim 1, wherein converting interaction data is further based on the second user'"'"'s current geographic location.

8. A system for providing a collaborative communication environment, the system comprising:

a processor;

a module controlling the processor to receive a first user profile and a second user profile having culture preferences, the user profiles associated with a network-enabled collaborative multiuser communication environment;

a module controlling the processor to convert interaction data between a first user and a second user into culturally acceptable data based on the first user profile; and

a module controlling the processor to present at least one of speech and image data to the second user based on the converted interaction data.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the interaction data relates to a network game.

10. The system of claim 8, wherein the module controlling the processor to convert the interaction data further controls the processor to convert generically generated data into data that is more culturally acceptable to the second user based on the second user profile.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the interaction data is converted further based on real-time information.

12. The system of claim 8, wherein the module controlling the processor to present further controls the processor to present text data to the second user based on the second user profile.

13. The system of claim 8, wherein user profiles include at least one of a preferred language, culture, race and/or personal preferences.

14. A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions which, when executed by a computing device, cause the computing device to provide a collaborative communication environment, the instructions comprising:

receiving a first user profile and a second user profile having culture preferences, the user profiles associated with a network-enabled collaborative multiuser communication environment;

converting interaction data between a first user and a second user into culturally acceptable data based on the first user profile and the second user profile; and

presenting at least one of speech and image data to the second user based on the converted interaction data.

15. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein the interaction data relates to a network game.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein converting the interaction data further comprises converting generically generated data into data that is more culturally acceptable to the second user based on the second user profile.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein the interaction data is converted further based on real-time information.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, further comprising presenting text data to the second user based on the second user profile.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 14, wherein the user profiles include at least one of a preferred language, culture, race and/or personal preferences.
