Abstract

Multiple schemes and techniques for facilitating presentations with an interactive application are described. For example, an interactive application provides a console view overlay for integrating multiple productivity applications into a graphical user interface (GUI) window. An interactive application can also share a selected display portion of the console view overlay with other interactive applications. As another example, presenters and other audience members can draw on the selected display portion being shared, and the drawn graphics are synchronously displayed by the other interactive applications. Interactive applications, as directed by their users, can join various member groups and specific presentations thereof. Moreover, a user may share content in accordance with membership grouping.

Claims

1. One or more computer-readable storage media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on one or more processors, direct a device of a user to produce screen items on a display, the screen items comprising:

a first screen item displaying a presentation slide; and

a second screen item displaying a note that is associated with the presentation slide;

wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, share the presentation slide with one or more other devices without sharing the note that is associated with the presentation slide, at least partly in response to receiving a request from the user.

2. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 1, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, further cause the device of the user to synchronously change which presentation slide is being shared with the one or more other devices when the user changes which presentation slide is being displayed as the first screen item.

3. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more other devices comprise a projection device for projecting the shared presentation slide without the note that is associated with the shared presentation slide.

One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 1, wherein the one or more other devices comprise a processing device running an interactive application, the interactive application capable of causing the processing device to display the presentation slide that is being shared by the device of the user.

5. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 1, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the device of the user to take a screenshot of the first screen item that comprises the shared presentation slide.

6. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 5, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the device of the user to take additional screenshots of the first screen item at a predetermined frequency.

7. One or more processor-accessible media as recited in claim 5, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the device of the user to transmit the screenshot to the one or more other devices, the one or more other devices comprising a device of a group administrator or a device of a group member.

One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 1, wherein the computer-executable instructions, when executed on the one or more processors, cause the device of the user to synchronously change which note is being displayed as the second screen item when the user changes which presentation slide is being displayed as the first screen item, based at least in part on linkages between presentation slides and associated respective notes.

9. One or more computing devices, comprising:

one or more processors; and

the one or more computer-readable storage media of claim 1.

10. One or more computer-readable storage media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

causing display of a presentation slide and a note associated with the presentation slide on a display device of a presenter;

receiving a selection from the presenter to share the presentation slide with one or more other devices; and

at least partly in response to the receiving of the selection, sharing the presentation slide with the one or more other devices while refraining from sharing the note associated with the presentation slide.

11. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 10, wherein the one or more other devices comprise at least a projection device, and wherein the sharing of the presentation slide comprises causing display of the presentation slide by the projection device.

12. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 10, further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

receiving a request from the presenter to advance from the presentation slide to a subsequent presentation slide; and

at least partly in response to the receiving of the request;

causing display of the subsequent presentation slide; and

sharing the subsequent presentation slide with the one or more other devices.

13. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 12, wherein the subsequent presentation slide is associated with a note, and further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform an act comprising:

refraining from sharing the note associated with the subsequent presentation slide at least partly in response to the receiving of the request from the presenter.

14. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 13, further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform an act comprising:

causing display of the note associated with the subsequent presentation slide synchronously with the subsequent presentation slide on the display device of the presenter at least partly in response to the receiving of the request from the presenter.

15. One or more computer-readable storage media storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

establishing a window of an application, the window of the application comprising a portion displaying a presentation slide and a portion displaying a note associated with the presentation slide; and

sharing the presentation slide with one or more other devices while refraining from sharing the note associated with the presentation slide with the one or more other devices.

16. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

receiving, from a user of the application, a selection that designates the one or more other devices with which to share the presentation slide.

17. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 16, wherein the designated one or more other devices comprise a projection device for projecting the shared presentation slide.

18. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

receiving, from a user of the application and prior to the sharing of the presentation slide, a selection that designates for sharing the portion of the application window displaying the presentation slide.

19. One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, further storing computer-executable instructions that, when executed on the one or more processors, perform acts comprising:

receiving, from a user of the application and prior to the sharing of the presentation slide, a selection that designates the portion of the application window displaying the note as a portion to refrain from sharing with the one or more other devices.

One or more computer-readable storage media as recited in claim 15, wherein the presentation slide and the note form a portion of a presentation of a presenter, and wherein each note associated with a respective presentation slide is displayed synchronously with the respective presentation slide as the presenter advances through the presentation.
