1. A lateral electric field mode liquid crystal device comprising:

  • a first substrate having pixel electrodes and common electrodes which are provided on one surface thereof;

    a second substrate disposed so as to face that the surface of the first substrate with a predetermined distance therebetween;

    a liquid crystal layer sandwiched between the first substrate and the second substrate; and

    a loopshaped sealing member disposed so as to surround the liquid crystal layer, with the liquid crystal device driving the liquid crystal layer by an electric field generated between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes,wherein on the surface of the first substrate disposed close to the liquid crystal layer, a driving circuit and wirings electrically connected to the driving circuit are formed,wherein on the surface of the second substrate disposed close to the liquid crystal layer, an electrostatic shielding layer and an insulating layer formed of resin materials are formed in this order,wherein the wirings and the electrostatic shielding layer are electrically connected via a conductive member which is formed in an exposed portion of the insulating layer at the outer circumference of the sealing member, and the potential of the electrostatic shielding layer is controlled to be at predetermined potential by the driving circuit.
