Abstract
The present invention relates to polynucleotides from Ostreococcus lucimarinus which code for desaturases and elongases and which can be employed for the recombinant production of polyunsaturated fatty acids. The invention furthermore relates to vectors, host cells and transgenic nonhuman organisms which comprise the polynucleotides, and to the polypeptides encoded by the polynucleotides. Finally, the invention also relates to production processes for the polyunsaturated fatty acids and for oil, lipid and fatty acid compositions.

19. A polynucleotide comprising a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of:

(a) a nucleic acid sequence as shown in one of the SEQ ID NO. 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 or 15; (b) a nucleic acid sequence which codes for a polypeptide comprising an amino acid sequence as shown in one of SEQ ID NO. 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 or 16; (c) a nucleic acid sequence which codes for a polypeptide having at least 80% identity to a polypeptide which is encoded by the nucleic acid sequence of (a) or (b), where the polypeptide has desaturase or elongase activity; and (d) a nucleic acid sequence comprising a fragment of the nucleic acid of (a), (b) or (c), where the fragment codes for a polypeptide with desaturase or elongase activity. - View Dependent Claims (20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36)
