Abstract

An event management system is configured to host a collaboration event that includes first and second event endpoints that provide respective first and second sets of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to respective first and second sets of attendees during the first event. The event management system is configured to, while hosting the collaboration event, reconfigure the collaboration event to cause a third event endpoint to provide a third set of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to at least one of the first set of attendees.

Claims

1. A method performed by an event management system, the method comprising:

hosting a first collaboration event that includes first and second event endpoints that provide respective first and second sets of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to respective first and second sets of attendees during the first event; and

while hosting the first collaboration event, reconfiguring the first collaboration event to cause a third event endpoint to provide a third set of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to at least one of the first set of attendees at the third event endpoint.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

adjusting a registered event specification of the first collaboration event to add the third event endpoint.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising:

reconfiguring the first collaboration event to cause the first event endpoint to stop providing the first set of audio/visual (A/V) media streams at the first event endpoint.

4. The method of claim 3 further comprising:

adjusting the registered event specification of the first collaboration event to remove the first event endpoint.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

providing information to the first set of attendees that directs the first set of attendees to the third event endpoint.

6. The method of claim 1 wherein the first event endpoint is in a first location that differs from a second location of the third event endpoint.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

reconfiguring the first collaboration event in response to receiving a request from the first set of attendees.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

reconfiguring the first collaboration event in response to status information corresponding to the first collaboration event and a second collaboration event.

9. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

reconfiguring the first collaboration event in response to receiving a request from a second collaboration event.

10. A program product comprising:

a program executable by a processor for causing the processor to;

host a first collaboration event that includes first and second event endpoints that provide respective first and second sets of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to respective first and second sets of attendees during the first event; and

during the first collaboration event, redirect the first set of A/V media streams from the first event endpoint to the first set of attendees at a third event endpoint;

a medium that stores the program so that the program is accessible by the processor.

11. The program product of claim 10 wherein the program is executable by the processor for causing the processor to:

host a second collaboration event that includes the third and fourth event endpoints that provide respective third and fourth sets of A/V media streams to respective third and fourth sets of attendees during the second collaboration event; and

during the first collaboration event, redirect the third set of A/V media streams from the third event endpoint to the third set of attendees at the first event endpoint contemporaneous with redirecting the first set of A/V media streams from the first event endpoint to the first set of attendees at the third event endpoint.

12. The program product of claim 11 wherein the program is executable by the processor for causing the processor to:

adjust a first registered event specification of the first collaboration event to specify the third event endpoint; and

adjust a second registered event specification of the second collaboration event to specify the first event endpoint.

13. The program product of claim 11 wherein the program is executable by the processor for causing the processor to:

provide first information to the first set of attendees to direct the first set of attendees to the third event endpoint; and

provide second information to the second set of attendees to direct the second set of attendees to the first event endpoint.

14. The program product of claim 11 wherein the first endpoint is outside of a room that includes the third endpoint.

15. The program product of claim 10 wherein the program is executable by the processor for causing the processor to:

redirect the first set of A/V media streams in response to detecting an overlap between the first collaboration event and a second collaboration event that includes a fourth event endpoint that is nearby the first event endpoint.

16. A system comprising:

a network interface configured to connect to a network; and

an event management system coupled to the network interface, including a first registered event specification of a first collaboration event that is configured to include at least first and second event endpoints that provide respective first and second sets of A/V media streams to respective first and second sets of attendees;

wherein the event management system is configured to, during the first collaboration event, reconfigure the first collaboration event to cause a third event endpoint to provide the first set of audio/visual (A/V) media streams to the first set of attendees at the third event endpoint using the network interface.

17. The system of claim 16 wherein the event management system is configured to add the third event endpoint to the first registered event specification.

18. The system of claim 17 wherein the event management system is configured to remove the first event endpoint from the first registered event specification.

19. The system of claim 16 wherein the event management system includes event information that indicates that the third event endpoint is near the first event endpoint.

20. The system of claim 16 wherein the event management system includes a second registered event specification of a second collaboration event that is configured to include at least the third and fourth event endpoints that provide respective third and fourth sets of A/V media streams to respective third and fourth sets of attendees, and wherein the event management system is configured to, during the first collaboration event, reconfigure the second collaboration event to cause the first event endpoint to provide the third set of A/V media streams to the third set of attendees using the network interface.
