A damper for damping vibrations, with at least one substantially longitudinal damping body with to end surfaces and a substantially longitudinal surface between these, said damping body including a longitudinal direction (a) and a transversal direction (t) and is placed in a substantially longitudinal cavity with a damping fluid, said cavity defining at least one cavity surface and the damping body defines at least one damping body surface,characterized in that the damping fluid includes a proportion of liquid and a proportion of gas and at least one of the cavity surface or the damping body surface is broken to influence formation of foam in the damping fluid when in operation.
