Abstract
The system (50) has a subscriber digital filter system (54)connected to the twisted pair telephone wire (56). A subscriber controller (52) sends control signals to the subscriber digital filter system (54). An office digital filter system (58) is connected to the twisted pair telephone wire (56). An office controller (60) sends control signals to the office digital filter system (58).

2. A telephone communication system, comprising:
-
a first controller at a switching office to receive a bandwidth allocation request and to identify an available frequency band, wherein the first controller is to calculate a frequency translation scheme to move a signal to the available frequency band using one or more digital filters configured to implement the frequency translation scheme; and a first transceiver at the switching office to send and receive via multiple independent channels, wherein the first transceiver is to transmit the frequency translation scheme to a subscriber gateway. - View Dependent Claims (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

9. A telephone communication system, comprising:
-
a first transceiver at a subscriber gateway to send and receive via multiple independent channels, wherein the first transceiver is to receive a frequency translation scheme calculated by a first controller at a switching office in response to a bandwidth allocation request; one or more digital filters at the subscriber gateway to implement the frequency translation scheme, wherein the frequency translation scheme is to move a signal to an available frequency band; and a second controller at the subscriber gateway to operate the one or more digital filters. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15)

16. A method of operating a telephone communication system, comprising:
-
receiving, at a first transceiver configured to send and receive via multiple independent channels located at a subscriber gateway, a frequency translation scheme calculated by a first controller at a switching office in response to a bandwidth allocation request; implementing the frequency translation scheme via one or more digital filters at the subscriber gateway, wherein the frequency translation scheme is to move a signal to an available frequency band identified by the first controller at the switching office; and operating a second controller at the subscriber gateway to control the one or more digital filters. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20, 21)

22. A multiple telephone communication system, comprising:
-
a subscriber gateway system having a first transceiver coupled to a twisted pair telephone wire, the first transceiver to send and receive via multiple independent channels; a second transceiver at a central office coupled to the twisted pair telephone wire, the second transceiver to send and receive via the multiple independent channels, wherein the second transceiver is communicatively coupled with the first transceiver; and a plurality of digital filters, operatively coupled to the first and second transceivers, configured to implement a frequency translation scheme, wherein the digital filters are to operate according to the frequency translation scheme to move a signal to an available frequency band associated with the multiple independent channels.
