1. A system, for implanting a drainage implant into an eye of a patient, comprising:
- a delivery device having a lumen extending through a distal portion, the distal portion being configured to extend through the cornea or the limbus of the eye and extend transocularly across the anterior chamber of the eye, the distal portion further being configured to be advanced, from the anterior chamber, through trabecular meshwork of the eye to a subconjunctival space of the eye without penetrating the conjunctiva of the eye;
a drainage implant, sized and configured to be positioned within the distal portion lumen, the implant comprising;
an inlet end configured to reside, after implantation in the eye, in the anterior chamber of the eye;
a middle portion configured to extend through the trabecular meshwork;
a distal end configured to reside in the subconjunctival space of the eye; and
a lumen extending from the inlet end to the distal end, the lumen having a diameter of from approximately 50 microns to approximately 250 microns; and
a pusher tube, configured to reside within the distal portion of the delivery device proximal to the inlet end of the drainage implant;
wherein the delivery device is configured to carry, during implantation, the drainage implant within the distal portion lumen;
the pusher tube is configured to advance the drainage implant relative to the delivery device through the distal portion lumen;
the delivery device is configured to withdraw proximally, after the pusher tube advances the drainage implant, while the pusher tube maintains relative positioning of the drainage implant with respect to the eye until the inlet end of the drainage implant is expelled from the distal portion of the delivery device; and
the delivery device and pusher tube are configured to withdraw together after the inlet end of the drainage implant is expelled from the delivery device, such that the inlet end of the drainage implant is positioned in the anterior chamber and the distal end is positioned in the subconjunctival space.
