Abstract

Various embodiments of systems and methods of creating a memory of an HVAC device. A bootloader code is stored into a first protected memory of the HVAC device. A device designator is stored into a second protected memory of the HVAC device. A control serial number is stored into a third protected memory of the HVAC device. A control part number is stored into a fourth protected memory of the HVAC device. An application data is stored into a separate application memory of the HVAC device.

Claims

1. A method for creating a memory of an HVAC device, comprising:

storing a bootloader into a first protected memory of said HVAC device;

storing a device designator into a second protected memory of said HVAC device;

storing a control serial number into a third protected memory of said HVAC device;

storing a control part number into a fourth protected memory of said HVAC device; and

storing an application data into a separate application memory of said HVAC device.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising invoking said bootloader code to flash information into said HVAC device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein said second, third and fourth memory are contained within a same physical memory.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising storing other explicitly requested device information into a fifth protected memory of said HVAC device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said application memory is an EEPROM.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said device includes an addressable unit.

7. A memory for use for flashing a HVAC device, comprising:

a protected bootloader area;

a protected data memory area configured to contain protected data;

a protected supplier data memory area configured to contain factory programmable features; and

a separate application data page configured to contain protected application data,

wherein said memory areas and said data page are contained within said HVAC device.

8. The memory of claim 7, wherein said protected data memory area contains at least one of:

a device designator,

a control number, and

a control part number.

9. The memory of claim 7, wherein said protected bootloader memory, said protected data memory, and said protected supplier data memory all are stored in same flash memory.

10. The memory of claim 7, wherein said application data is stored in an EEPROM data memory.

11. The memory of claim 7, wherein said first protected memory area is a protected memory page.

12. A method for flashing a memory of a HVAC device, comprising:

flashing a code area by a supplier in an HVAC device,

flashing a first data area by the supplier in the HVAC device, and

flashing a second data area by an installer in the HVAC device.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein said first data area is a protected area and includes a protected data memory, wherein said protected data memory area contains at least one of:

a device designator,

a control number, and

a control part number.

14. The memory of claim 12, wherein said first protected memory area is a protected memory page

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising invoking a bootloader code to flash information into said HVAC device.

16. The method of claim 12, further comprising storing other explicitly requested device information into a third memory of said HVAC device, wherein said memory area is a protected area.

17. The method of claim 12, wherein said HVAC device includes an addressable unit.

18. The memory of claim 12, wherein an application data is stored in an EEPROM data memory of said HVAC device.

19. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

installing an RFID in said HVAC device;

installing a board for said HVAC device in said HVAC device, said board including an RFID reader;

powering up said board configured to include said RFID reader; and

reading HVAC device information at the board by said RFID reader.

20. The method of claim 35, wherein said powering up of said board occurs during a commissioning of said HVAC device.
