Abstract

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, an Internet Protocol Television system having a controller to create a template defining a format of presentation of an webpage or HTML page using an iTV or IPTV application system, receive a request for the page from a subscriber of the iTV or IPTV system. The system can access application system subscriber data for the subscriber and a presentation of the page is dynamically adapted according to the application system subscriber data. In one alternative at, the page can be dynamically adapted by changing in content or by changing a look and feel of an HTML page or webpage. In another alternative, the webpage or HTML page can be dynamically adapted by modifying graphic user interface elements based on the application system subscriber data. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

1. An Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) system, comprising a controller to:

create a HyperText Markup Language (HTML) page with a template defining a format of presentation of the HTML page using an IPTV application system;

receive a request for the HTML page from a subscriber of the IPTV system;

access application system subscriber data for the subscriber; and

dynamically adapt a presentation of the HTML page according to the application system subscriber data.

2. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the IPTV application system belongs to an IPTV service provider or is operatively coupled to a third party content provider.

3. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein IPTV network elements provide application system subscriber data to enable the dynamic adaptation of the HTML page.

4. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein HTML page is dynamically adapted by changing in content.

5. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the HTML page is dynamically adapted by changing a look and feel of an HTML page.

6. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the HTML page is dynamically adapted by modifying graphic user interface elements based on the application system subscriber data.

7. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the application system subscriber data comprises services subscribed to by the subscriber and only includes information to the extent that it relates with the content supplied by the content provider.

The IPTV system of claim 7, wherein the application system subscriber data comprises information related to services subscribed to by the subscriber and related to a content provider for the services subscribed and excludes application system subscriber data related to services provided by other content providers.

9. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the IPTV application system shares demographic data for the subscriber to further enable dynamically adapting the presentation of the HTML page.

10. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the IPTV application system shares psychographic data for the subscriber to further enable dynamically adapting the presentation of the HTML page.

11. The IPTV system of claim 1, wherein the IPTV system determines available communication resources for the subscriber and further adapts graphical user interface (GUI) elements on the HTML page and system functionality based on the available communication resources determined.

12. The IPTV system of claim 11, wherein the available communication resources comprises a CVoIP phone, wherein the HTML page comprises a customized GUI element for making a CVoIP call connection to a third party service provider when selecting the customized GUI element.

13. The IPTV system of claim 11, wherein the available communication resources comprises a messaging system, wherein the HTML page comprises a customized GUI element for sending a message automatically containing subscriber information to a third party service provider when selecting the customized GUI element.

14. The IPTV system of claim 11, wherein the available communication resources comprises among VoIP phone service, cell phone, email, internet, IMS, and PSTN.

15. An interactive TV (iTV) system, comprising a controller to:

create an iTV page with a template defining a format of presentation of the iTV page using an iTV application system;

receive a request for the iTV page from a subscriber of the iTV system;

access application system subscriber data for the subscriber; and

dynamically adapt a presentation of the iTV page according to the application system subscriber data.

16. The iTV system of claim 15, wherein the iTV system is an Internet Protocol TV (IPTV) system, an interactive cable TV system, or an interactive satellite TV system.

17. The iTV system of claim 15, wherein the iTV page is an HTML page.

18. A media processor, comprising a controller to:

create a webpage with a template defining a format of presentation of the web page using an IPTV application system;

receive a request for the web page from a subscriber of the IPTV system;

access subscriber data for the subscriber sending the request; and

dynamically adapt a presentation of the webpage according to the subscriber data.

19. The media processor of claim 18, wherein IPTV network elements provide subscriber data to enable the dynamic adaptation of the web page.

20. The media processor of claim 18, wherein webpage is a Hypertext Mark-Up Language (HTML) page that is dynamically adapted by changing in content, changing in a look and feel of an HTML page, or changing in graphic user interface elements based on the subscriber data.

21. The media processor of claim 18, wherein the media processor is operatively coupled to an IPTV application system that shares demographic data or psychographic data for the subscriber to further enable dynamically adapting the presentation of the HTML page.

22. The media processor of claim 18, wherein the IPTV system determines available communication resources for the subscriber and further adapts graphical user interface (GUI) elements on the web page and system functionality based on the available communication resources determined.

23. The media processor of claim 18, wherein the media processor is operatively coupled to, at least one of an STB or a digital video recorder (DVR).

24. A method, comprising:

creating an iTV page with a template defining a format of presentation of the iTV page using an iTV application system;

receiving a request for the iTV page from a subscriber of the iTV system;

accessing application system subscriber data for the subscriber; and

dynamically adapting a presentation of the iTV page according to the application system subscriber data.
