Abstract

An assembly includes at least two medical treatment units, each of which can be allocated to a patient and at least two peripheral devices, each of which can be allocated to a patient. The peripheral devices and the treatment units have means for allocating a peripheral device to a treatment unit and means for verifying the allocation of a peripheral device to a patient. To allocate a peripheral device to a treatment unit, the peripheral device is placed by operators in a receiving unit belonging to the treatment unit. Said receiving unit is preferably designed as a charging station for the battery of the peripheral device. In the event of a successful allocation of peripheral device and patient, confirmed by the receipt of physiological data of the patient, the operators verify the correct allocation of a peripheral device to the patient and must confirm the correct allocation by confirmation means. The peripheral device is only released if the operator has confirmed the correct allocation, preferably within a predefined time period.

42. An arrangement comprising:

at least two medical treatment units; and

at least two peripheral devices,

wherein one medical treatment unit of the at least two medical treatment units and one peripheral device of the at least two peripheral devices are configured to be allocated to a patient, and the peripheral device is further configured to be allocated to the medical treatment unit configured to be allocated to the patient, the peripheral device and the treatment unit together including

means for allocating the treatment unit to the patient,

means for allocating the peripheral device to the treatment unit,

means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient,

means for acknowledging that the peripheral device and the treatment unit allocated to the peripheral device have been allocated to the same patient, and

means for releasing the peripheral device only on condition that the correct allocation of the peripheral device to the patient has been acknowledged.

43. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for allocating the peripheral device to a treatment unit includes means for sending an address for identification of the peripheral device to the medical treatment unit and means for receiving the address for identification of the peripheral device by the treatment unit.

44. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for allocating the peripheral device to the treatment unit includes means for accommodating the peripheral device and means for detecting the peripheral device accommodated in the means for accommodating the peripheral device.

45. The arrangement according to claim 44, wherein the means for accommodating the peripheral device is an accommodation unit into which the peripheral device is placed.

46. The arrangement according to claim 44, wherein the means for accommodating the peripheral device includes means for charging a battery for a power supply of the peripheral device.

47. The arrangement according to claim 44, wherein the means for accommodating the peripheral device and the means for detecting the peripheral device accommodated in the means for accommodating a peripheral device cooperate with means for sending an address for identification of the peripheral device to the medical treatment unit and means for receiving the address for identification of the peripheral device by the treatment unit in such a way that, after detection of the peripheral device, the peripheral device sends an address for identification to the treatment unit and the treatment unit receives the address for identification of the peripheral device.

48. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient includes means for sending a signal to the medical treatment unit after the successful allocation of the peripheral device to the patient and means for receiving the signal by the treatment unit.

49. The arrangement according to claim 48, wherein the means for sending is configured to wirelessly transmit the signal and the means for receiving is configured to wirelessly receive the signal.

50. The arrangement according to claim 49, wherein the means for sending includes a radio transmitter and the means for receiving includes a radio receiver.

The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient includes means for checking whether the peripheral device is receiving patient-specific signals for monitoring the patient, whereby it is concluded when patient-specific data are received that the peripheral device has been successfully allocated to the patient.

52. The arrangement according to claim 51, wherein the means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient cooperates with means for measuring a time after removal of the peripheral device from the means for accommodating the peripheral device in such a way that, when patient-specific data are received, it is concluded that there is a successful allocation of peripheral device and patient only when the peripheral device has been allocated to the patient within a preset time interval.

53. The arrangement according to claim 52, wherein the means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient cooperates with means for displaying a remaining time in the preset time interval within which an allocation of the peripheral device and the patient has to take place.

The arrangement according to claim 52, wherein the means for checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient cooperates with means for emitting an optical and/for acoustic signal, said means for emitting being designed in such a way that the optical and/for acoustic signal is emitted if, within a preset time interval after removal of the peripheral device from the means for accommodating the peripheral device, the peripheral device has not been successfully allocated to the treatment unit.

55. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for acknowledging is configured as a manual input.

56. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the means for allocating the treatment unit to the patient includes a system of tubes an/or lines for the connection of the patient to the medical treatment unit.

57. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the treatment unit is a blood treatment apparatus with an extracorporeal blood circuit.

58. The arrangement according to claim 42, wherein the peripheral device includes at least one sensor for measuring the patient'"'"'s physiological data.

59. An arrangement comprising:

a medical treatment unit configured to administer medical treatment to a patient allocated to the medical treatment unit; and

a peripheral device configured to be allocated to the patient and having a sensor configured to generate signals corresponding to a physiological aspect of the patient,

wherein the medical treatment unit and the peripheral device together include

a sensor configured to detect a coupling of the peripheral device with respect to an accommodation unit allocated to the medical treatment unit, thereby allowing an allocation of the peripheral device to the medical treatment unit,

a processing module configured to check an allocation of the peripheral device to the patient by evaluating the signal corresponding to the physiological aspect of the patient,

an input configured to receive an acknowledgment that the peripheral device and the treatment unit allocated to the peripheral device have been allocated to the same patient, and

a processing module configured to release the peripheral device for use in a treatment program only on condition that the correct allocation of the peripheral device to the patient has been acknowledged.

60. The arrangement according to claim 59, wherein the processing modules are components of a microprocessor.

61. A method, comprising:

allocating a treatment unit to a patient,

allocating a peripheral device to the treatment unit and the patient,

checking the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient,

acknowledging that the peripheral device and the treatment unit have been allocated to the same patient, and

releasing the peripheral device for use in a treatment program only on condition that the correct allocation of the peripheral device and the patient has been acknowledged.

62. The method according to claim 61, wherein the allocation of the peripheral device to the treatment unit, the checking of the allocation of the peripheral device to the patient, and the releasing of the peripheral device are all performed by processing modules.

63. The method according to claim 62, wherein the processing modules are components of a microprocessor.
