Abstract

A display control apparatus that can display a video includes an inputting unit configured to input the video, a designation unit configured to designate an area in the video, a detection unit configured to detect that a coordinate in the designated area of the video has been pointed, and a display control unit configured to control a display size of a predetermined area in the video in such a manner that the display size of the predetermined area is larger when the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when the detection unit does not detect any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area.

Claims

1. A display control apparatus that can display a video, comprising:

an inputting unit configured to input the video;

a designation unit configured to designate an area in the video;

a detection unit configured to detect that a coordinate in the designated area of the video has been pointed; and

a display control unit configured to control a display size of a predetermined area in the video in such a manner that the display size of the predetermined area is larger when the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when the detection unit does not detect any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area.

The display control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to control a display size of the designated area in such a manner that the display size of the area designated by the designation unit is larger when the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when the detection unit does not detect any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area.

3. The display control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a coordinate inputting unit configured to input a coordinate in the video,

wherein the detection unit is configured to detect that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed based on the coordinate input by the coordinate inputting unit.

4. The display control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a detecting unit configured to detect a specific pixel from the video,

wherein the detection unit is configured to detect that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed based on a coordinate of the specific pixel detected by the detecting unit.

5. The display control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to reduce a display size of an area other than the predetermined area, when the display size of the predetermined area is increased.

6. The display control apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the display control unit is configured to display the predetermined area largely without displaying an area other than the predetermined area, when the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

7. The display control apparatus according to claim 1 further comprising:

a measuring unit configured to measure a time period during which the detection unit does not detect any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area,

wherein the display control unit is configured to reduce the display size of the predetermined area if the time period during which the detection unit does not detect any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area has reached a predetermined time, in a state where the display size of the predetermined area is increased after the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

8. The display control apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising:

a motion detection unit configured to detect a predetermined motion from the video,

wherein the display control unit is configured to reduce the display size of the predetermined area if the motion detection unit has detected the predetermined motion, in a state where the display size of the predetermined area is increased after the detection unit detects that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

9. A method for controlling a display operation to be performed by a display control apparatus that can display a video, the method comprising:

inputting the video;

designating an area in the video;

detecting that a coordinate in the designated area of the video has been pointed; and

controlling a display size of a predetermined area in the video in such a manner that the display size of the predetermined area is larger when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected.

10. The method according to claim 9, further comprising:

controlling a display size of the designated area in such a manner that the display size of the designated area is larger when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected.

11. The method according to claim 9, further comprising:

displaying the predetermined area largely without displaying other area, when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

12. The method according to claim 9, further comprising

measuring a time period during which any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected;

and

reducing the display size of the predetermined area if the time period during which any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected has reached a predetermined time, in a state where the display size of the predetermined area is increased after it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

13. A storage medium storing a program which can be executed by a computer to display a video, the program comprising:

inputting the video;

designating an area in the video;

detecting that a coordinate in the designated area of the video has been pointed; and

controlling a display size of a predetermined area in the video in such a manner that the display size of the predetermined area is larger when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected.

14. The program according to claim 13, further comprising:

controlling a display size of the designated area in such a manner that the display size of the designated area is larger when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed than when any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected.

15. The program according to claim 13, further comprising:

displaying the predetermined area largely without displaying other area, when it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.

16. The program according to claim 13, further comprising:

measuring a time period during which any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected; and

reducing the display size of the predetermined area if the time period during which any pointing of the coordinate in the designated area is not detected has reached a predetermined time, in a state where the display size of the predetermined area is increased after it is detected that the coordinate in the designated area has been pointed.
