Abstract

A wireless device is registered in a first wireless router by storing information in the first wireless router, a message is created comprising a unique identifier for the wireless device and a unique identifier for the first wireless router; the message is transmitted to at least one second wireless router.

24. A method, comprising:

receiving, in a router, from a wireless device, an address of the wireless device;

sending, from the router, to the wireless device, an address of the router;

determining that the router is an edge router in a wireless network that services the wireless device; and

establishing the router as a new control router for the wireless device.

25. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

before determining that the router is an edge router, notifying an existing control router that the router is in communication with the wireless device.

26. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

sending, from the router, to a wireless border gateway, a notification that the router is the new control router for the wireless device.

27. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

sending, from the router, a message that includes the address of the router and the address of the wireless device to at least one next link router.

28. The method of claim 24, further comprising:

determining, in an existing control router, that a wireless grid, maintained by the existing control router for the wireless device, should be destroyed;

determining that an identifier for the wireless device exists in a database associated with the existing control router;

erasing the identifier from the database; and

sending, from the existing control router to at least one next link router, a message that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the determining that the wireless grid should be destroyed is based on at least one of an amount of time that has passed since a last message from the wireless device and a message indicating that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

30. A method, comprising:

determining, in a control router that a wireless grid for wireless communications of a wireless device should be destroyed;

determining that an identifier for the wireless device exists in a database associated with the control router;

erasing the identifier from the database; and

sending, from the control router to at least one next link router, a message that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

31. The method of claim 30, further comprising receiving, in the control router, a message indicating that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

32. The method of claim 30, further comprising:

before sending the message that the wireless grid should be destroyed, decrementing a propagate variable in the message, the propagate variable being an indicator of a distance that the message should be propagated in the wireless grid.

33. The method of claim 30, wherein the determining that the wireless grid should be destroyed is based on an amount of time that has passed since a last message from the wireless device.

34. The method of claim 30, further comprising:

receiving, in a next link router, the message that the wireless grid should be destroyed; and

erasing an identifier for the wireless device in a database associated with the next link router.

35. A system, comprising a router configured to:

receive, from a wireless device, an address of the wireless device;

send, to the wireless device, an address of the router;

determine that the router is an edge router in a wireless network that services the wireless device; and

establish the router as a new control router for the wireless device.

36. The system of claim 35, the router further configured to notify, before determining that the router is an edge router, an existing control router that the router is in communication with the wireless device.

37. The system of claim 35, the router further configured to send, to a wireless border gateway, a notification that the router is the new control router for the wireless device.

38. The system of claim 35, the router further configured to send a message that includes the address of the router to at least one next link router.

39. The system of claim 35, further comprising an existing control router configured to:

determine that a wireless grid, maintained by the existing control router for the wireless device, should be destroyed;

determine that an identifier for the wireless device exists in a database associated with the existing control router;

erase the identifier from the database; and

send, to at least one next link router, a message that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

40. The system of claim 39, wherein the determining that the wireless grid should be destroyed is based on at least one of an amount of time that has passed since a last message from the wireless device and a message indicating that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

41. A system, comprising a control router configured to:

determine that a wireless grid for wireless communications of a wireless device should be destroyed;

determine that an identifier for the wireless device exists in a database associated with the control router;

erase the identifier from the database; and

send, to at least one next link router, a message that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

42. The system of claim 41, the control router further configured to receive a message indicating that the wireless grid should be destroyed.

43. The system of claim 41, the control router further configured to decrement, before sending the message that the wireless grid should be destroyed, a propagate variable in the message, the propagate variable being an indicator of a distance that the message should be propagated in the wireless grid.

44. The system of claim 41, wherein determining that the wireless grid should be destroyed is based on an amount of time that has passed since a last message from the wireless device.

45. The system of claim 41, further comprising at least one next link router configured to:

receive the message that the wireless grid should be destroyed; and

erase an identifier for the wireless device in a database associated with the next link router.
