Abstract

Disclosed is a method for generating a lower layer data block to be transmitted from a specific layer in a transmitting side to a receiving side in a mobile communication system. The method includes receiving an upper layer data block from an upper layer and generating a lower layer data block including at least part of the upper layer data block and a buffer status indicator indicating a status change of a data buffer associated with a group identifier corresponding to the upper layer data block. According to this data block generation method, states of buffers carrying upper layer data blocks are transmitted to a base station using minimum radio resources, thereby increasing system efficiency.

Claims

1. A method for generating a lower layer data block to be transmitted from a specific layer in a transmitting side to a receiving side in a mobile communication system, the method comprising:

receiving an upper layer data block from an upper layer; and

generating a lower layer data block including at least part of the upper layer data block and a buffer status indicator indicating a status change of a data buffer associated with a group indicator corresponding to the upper layer data block.

2. The method according to claim 1, wherein the upper layer data block is received from the data buffer.

3. The method according to claim 2, wherein the group identifier includes a data service passage with the upper layer.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the data service passage is a data transfer service and a data transport passage between data link layers as second layers or between a second layer and an upper layer.

The method according to claim 4, wherein the status change of the data buffer associated with the group identifier occurs at least one of when existence of data stored in the data buffer is changed, when the amount of data in the data buffer is increased or decreased by a specific amount, when the amount of data in the data buffer reaches a predetermined reference amount, and when the data buffer reaches a processing capability limit.

6. The method according to claim 5, wherein the buffer status indicator is included in a subheader corresponding to the upper layer data block.

7. A data block structure transmitted from a specific layer in a transmitting side to a receiving side in a mobile communication system, the data block structure comprising:

a field including a buffer status indicator indicating a status change of a data buffer associated with a group identifier; and

at least part of an upper layer data block.
