1. A method of administering access to an electronic conference, the method comprising:

  • establishing an initial configuration for an electronic conference on a host;

    sending an invitation to multiple client devices to participate in the electronic conference, wherein the invitation includes an initial configuration for a client device and enables the user to modify the initial configuration;

    receiving a first response to the invitation from a first client device in the multiple devices, the first response including a first revised configuration that differs from the initial configuration and the first revised configuration also specifying that content provided by the first client device should be used in a first mode;

    receiving a second response to the invitation from a second client device in the multiple devices, the second response including a second revised configuration that differs from the initial configuration and the first revised configuration in at least one parameter and the second revised configuration also specifying that content provided by the second client device should be used in a second mode that is different than the first mode;

    generating a revised configuration from the initial configuration to reflect the first revised configuration and the second revised configuration; and

    establishing the electronic conference using the revised configuration for the multiple client devices, wherein the the electronic conference distributes content provided by the first client device in the first mode and content provided by the second client device in the second mode.
