Abstract

An apparatus for analyzing data associated with proximate devices may include a processor. The processor may be configured to detect that a first device is proximate to a second device and receive indications of active data directly from the first device. The processor may also be configured to perform an analysis of the indications of active data and cause a user interface to present results of the analysis. Associated methods and computer program products may also be provided.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

detecting that a first device is proximate to a second device;

receiving indications of active data directly from the first device;

performing an analysis of the indications of active data, the analysis being preformed by a processor configured to perform the analysis; and

causing a user interface to present results of the analysis.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving the indications of active data includes the active data being data that is currently being presented by a user interface of the first device.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein detecting that the first device is proximate to the second device comprises detecting that a near field communications channel between the first device and the second device has been opened.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein detecting that the first device is proximate to the second device comprises verifying that location information of the first device defines a location of the first device to be within a threshold distance of the second device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein causing the user interface to present results of the analysis includes:

displaying the results of the analysis on a display; and

causing the results to be presented as moving across the display in a direction of the first device.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the analysis includes performing a search based on the indications of active data.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the analysis includes identifying a location of a point of interest described by the active data;

and wherein causing a user interface to present results of the analysis includes causing a representation of the point of interest to be displayed on a map.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the analysis includes performing a search based on the active data to identify data having a data format in common with the active data.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein performing the analysis includes performing a search of data stored on a memory device of the second device based on the active data.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising transferring data corresponding to a selected result of the analysis to the first device.

11. A apparatus comprising a processor, the processor configured to:

detect that a first device is proximate to a second device;

receive indications of active data directly from the first device;

perform an analysis of the indications of active data; and

cause a user interface to present results of the analysis.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to receive the indications of active data includes being configured to receive the indications of active data, the active data being data that is currently being presented by a user interface of the first device.

13. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to detect that the first device is proximate to the second device includes being configured to detect that a near field communications channel between the first device and the second device has been opened.

14. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to detect that the first device is proximate to the second device includes being configured to verify that location information of the first device defines a location of the first device to be within a threshold distance of the second device.

15. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to cause the user interface to present results of the analysis includes being configured to:

display the results of the analysis on a display; and

cause the results to be presented as moving across the display in a direction of the first device.

16. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to perform the analysis includes being configured to perform a search based on the indications of the active data.

17. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to perform the analysis includes being configured to identify a location of a point of interest described by the active data;

and wherein the processor configured to cause a user interface to present results of the analysis includes being configured to cause a representation of the point of interest to be displayed on a map.

18. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to perform the analysis includes being configured to perform a search based on the active data to identify data having a data format in common with the active data.

19. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor configured to perform the analysis includes being configured to perform a search of data stored on a memory device of the second device based on the active data.

20. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the processor is further configured to transfer data corresponding to a selected result of the analysis to the first device.

21. The apparatus of claim 11 further comprising a display, the display being configured to present results of the analysis.

22. A computer program product comprising at least one computer-readable storage medium having executable computer-readable program code instructions stored therein, the computer-readable program code instructions configured to:

detect that a first device is proximate to a second device;

receive indications of active data directly from the first device;

perform an analysis of the indications of active data; and

cause a user interface to present results of the analysis.

23. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to receive the indications of active data include being configured to receive the indications of active data, the active data being data that is currently being presented by a user interface of the first device.

24. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to detect that the first device is proximate to the second device include being configured to detect that a near field communications channel between the first device and the second device has been opened.

25. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to detect that the first device is proximate to the second device include being configured to verify that location information of the first device defines a location of the first device to be within a threshold distance of the second device.

26. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to cause the user interface to present results of the analysis include being configured to:

display the results of the analysis on a display; and

cause the results to be presented as moving across the display in a direction of the first device.

27. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to perform the analysis includes being configured to perform a search based on the indications of active data.

28. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to perform the analysis include being configured to identify a location of a point of interest described by the active data;

and wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to cause a user interface to present results of the analysis include being configured to cause a representation of the point of interest to be displayed on the a map.

29. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to perform the analysis include being configured to perform a search based on the active data to identify data having a data format in common with the active data.

30. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions configured to perform the analysis include being configured to perform a search of data stored on a memory device of the second device based on the active data.

31. The computer program product of claim 22, wherein the computer-readable program code instructions are further configured to transfer data corresponding to a selected result of the analysis to the first device.
