Abstract

A wireless communication device and a method of communication in a wireless personal area network (WPAN) are provided. The method includes assigning a shared channel time allocation across one or more neighbored networks, announcing the shared channel time allocation to the one or more neighbored networks enabling the neighbored network use the shared channel time allocation and communicating using a directional network access protocol on the shared channel time allocation which is towered directed to a communicated device.

Claims

1. A method of communication in a wireless personal area network (WPAN) comprising:

assigning a shared channel time allocation across one or more neighbored networks;

announcing the shared channel time allocation to the one or more neighbored networks enabling the neighbored network use the shared channel time allocation; and

communicating using a directional network access protocol on the shared channel time allocation which is towered directed to a communicated device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein assigning comprises:

synchronizing links of said one or more neighbored networks to enable to transmit a superframe at a same time slot; and

assigning a dedicated channel time allocation in a different time slot at the superframe of the neighbored networks and the shared channel time allocation at the same time slot at the superframe of the neighbored networks.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein announcing comprises:

announcing the shared channel time allocation in a sync beacon while other neighbored networks listens.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the announcing of the shared channel time is based on number of announced neighbored networks.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein announcing comprises:

announcing the shared channel time allocation time in a dedicated frame which include an offset of the shared channel time allocation with respect to a superframe transmission.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein announcing comprises:

announcing the shared channel time allocation time to plurality of links of the same network.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein communicating comprises:

performing a Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol on the direction toward a desired station.

9. The method of claim 2, comprising:

transmitting on the dedicated channel time allocation a base layer of data; and

transmitting on the shared channel time allocation an enhancement data layer.

3. The method of claim 3, comprising:

adjusting a length of the dedicated channel time allocation and a length of the shared channel time allocation based on links traffic.

32. The article of claim 3, further result in:

adjusting a length of the dedicated channel time allocation and a length of the shared channel time allocation based on links traffic.

10. A wireless communication device comprising:

a network controller to assign a shared channel time allocation across one or more neighbored networks and to announce the shared channel time allocation to the one or more neighbored networks which enables the neighbored network to use the shared channel time allocation; and

a transceiver to communicate using a directional network access protocol on the shared channel time allocation which is towered directed to a communicated device.

The wireless communication device of claim 10, wherein the network controller is able to synchronize links of said one or more neighbored networks to enable to transmit a superframe at a same time slot and to assign a dedicated channel time allocation in different time slots at the superframe of the neighbored networks and to assign the shared channel time allocation at the same time slot at the super-frame of the neighbored networks.

12. The wireless communication device of claim 11, wherein the network controller is able to adjust a length of the dedicated channel time allocation and a length of the shared channel time allocation based on links traffic.

13. The wireless communication device of claim 12, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation in a sync beacon while other neighbored networks listen.

14. The wireless communication device of claim 13, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation based on number of announced neighbored networks.

15. The wireless communication device of claim 10, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation time in a dedicated frame which include an offset of the shared channel time allocation with respect to a superframe transmission.

16. The wireless communication device of claim 10, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation time to plurality of links of the same network.

17. The wireless communication device of claim 10, wherein the transceiver is transmit according to a Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol on the direction toward a desired station using a beam forming scheme.

18. The wireless communication device of claim 11, wherein the network controller is able to provide a base layer of data to be transmitted on the dedicated channel time allocation time slot and to provide an enhancement data layer to be transmitted on the shared channel time allocation time slot.

19. The wireless communication device of claim 18 comprises a wireless display and wherein the network controller of the wireless display is able to provide the base layer of data which includes a scalable video codec to be transmitted on the dedicated channel time allocation time slot and to provide the enhancement data layer to be transmitted on the shared channel time allocation time slot.

20. A wireless communication system comprising:

two or more piconets, wherein a piconet of the or more piconets includes a piconet network controller and one or more devices and the piconet controller comprises;

a network controller to assign a shared channel time allocation across one or more neighbored piconets and to announce the shared channel time allocation to the one or more piconets which enables the neighbored network to use the shared channel time allocation; and

a transceiver to communicate using a directional network access protocol on the shared channel time allocation which is towered directed to a communicated device.

The wireless communication system of claim 20 wherein the network controller is able to synchronize links of said one or more neighbored networks to enable to transmit a superframe at a same time slot and to assign a dedicated channel time allocation in different time slots at the superframe of the neighbored networks and to assign the shared channel time allocation at the same time slot at the superframe of the neighbored networks.

22. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the network controller is able to adjust a length of the dedicated channel time allocation and a length of the shared channel time allocation based on links traffic.

23. The wireless communication system of claim 22, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation in a sync beacon while other neighbored networks listen.

24. The wireless communication system of claim 23, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation based on number of announced neighbored networks.

25. The wireless communication system of claim 20, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation time in a dedicated frame which include an offset of the shared channel time allocation with respect to a superframe transmission.

26. The wireless communication system of claim 20, wherein the network controller is able to announce the shared channel time allocation time to plurality of links of the same network.

27. The wireless communication system of claim 20, wherein the transceiver is transmit according to a Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol on the direction toward a desired station using a beam forming scheme.

28. The wireless communication system of claim 21, wherein the network controller is able to provide a base layer of data to be transmitted on the dedicated channel time allocation time slot and to provide an enhancement data layer to be transmitted on the shared channel time allocation time slot.

29. The wireless communication system of claim 28, wherein the piconet controller comprises:

a wireless display and wherein a network controller of the wireless display is able to provide the base layer of data which includes a scalable video codec to be transmitted on the dedicated channel time allocation time slot and to provide the enhancement data layer to be transmitted on the shared channel time allocation time slot.

30. An article comprising:

a storage medium, having stored thereon instructions, that when executed, result in;

assigning a shared channel time allocation across one or more neighbored networks;

announcing the shared channel time allocation to the one or more neighbored networks enabling the neighbored network use the shared channel time allocation; and

communicating using a directional network access protocol on the shared channel time allocation which is towered directed to a communicated device.

31. The article of claim 30, wherein assigning results in:

synchronizing links of said one or more neighbored networks to enable to transmit a superframe at a same time slot; and

assigning a dedicated channel time allocation in a different time slot at the superframe of the neighbored networks and the shared channel time allocation at the same time slot at the superframe of the neighbored networks.

33. The article of claim 30, wherein announcing results in:

announcing the shared channel time allocation in a sync beacon while other neighbored networks listens.

34. The article of claim 30, wherein announcing results in:

announcing the shared channel time allocation time in a dedicated frame which include an offset of the shared channel time allocation with respect to a superframe transmission.

35. The article of claim 30, wherein announcing results in:

announcing the shared channel time allocation time to plurality of links of the same network.

36. The article of claim 30, wherein communicating results in:

performing a Carrier Sense Multiple Access With Collision Avoidance (CSMA/CA) protocol on the direction toward a desired station.
