Abstract

A system for and a method of creating a coherent video data stream of an object moving between a plurality of areas covered by a plurality of data collecting devices is provided. The method includes selecting a plurality of data collecting devices from the plurality of data collecting devices, synchronizing video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, substantially simultaneously reviewing the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, specifying periods of interest for the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices, and sequentially combining portions of the video data streams into the coherent video data stream, the portions corresponding to the specified periods of interest.

Claims

1. A method of creating a coherent video data stream of an object moving between a plurality of areas covered by a plurality of data collecting devices comprising:

selecting a plurality of data collecting devices from the plurality of data collecting devices;

synchronizing video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices;

reviewing the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices substantially simultaneously;

specifying periods of interest of the video data streams from the selected plurality of data collecting devices; and

sequentially combining portions of the video data streams into the coherent video data stream, the portions corresponding to the specified periods of interest.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the plurality of data collecting devices comprise cameras.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein the specifying occurs with respect to the video data streams.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the specifying occurs relative to time lines associated with the video data streams.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein specifying periods of interest further comprises identifying an entrance time and an exit time corresponding to times when the object appears on a first video data stream and when the object ceases to appear on the first video data stream, respectively.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein an entrance time is marked at a time substantially immediately after a last marked exit time.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the entrance time corresponds to the first video data stream and the last marked exit time corresponds to a different video data stream.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising storing the coherent video data stream in a selected file.

9. The method of claim 8 wherein the selected file is stored in at least one of a hard disk drive, a digital video disc, a compact disc, or a Blu-ray disk.

10. An interactive viewing apparatus comprising:

means for viewing a plurality of video data streams from a plurality of cameras;

means for marking time lines associated with the plurality of video data streams; and

means for creating and exporting a file containing a coherent video data stream.

11. The interactive viewing apparatus of claim 10 which includes a graphical user interface associated with at least one of control circuitry or a programmable processor.

12. The interactive viewing apparatus of claim 11 wherein the control circuitry or the programmable processor creates the file containing the coherent video data stream.

13. The interactive viewing apparatus of claim 11 wherein the control circuitry or the programmable processor creates the coherent video data stream.

14. The interactive viewing apparatus of claim 13 wherein the control circuitry or the programmable processor sequentially combines segments of the plurality of video data streams corresponding to marked times to create the coherent video data stream.

15. A system for creating a coherent video data stream of an object moving between a plurality of areas covered by a plurality of data collecting devices comprising:

a programmable processor and associated control circuitry; and

a user interface coupled to the programmable processor, wherein the user interface displays a plurality of video data streams from a selected plurality of data collecting devices, and the programmable processor and the associated control circuitry sequentially combine selected periods of time from the video data streams into the coherent video data stream.

16. The system of claim 15 wherein the programmable processor and the associated control circuitry synchronize the plurality of video data streams.

17. The system of claim 15 wherein the programmable processor and the associated control circuitry mark an entrance time and an exit time corresponding to times when the object appears on a first video data stream and when the object ceases to appear on the first video data stream, respectively.

18. The system of claim 17 wherein the entrance time is marked at a time substantially immediately after the last marked exit time.

19. The system of claim 18 wherein the entrance time corresponds to the first video data stream and the last marked exit time corresponds to a different video data stream.

20. The system of claim 15 further comprising a storage device for storing an export file containing the coherent video data stream, the storage device is at least one of a hard disk drive, a digital video disc, a compact disc, or a Blu-ray disk.
