Abstract

A content and traffic managing system operatively associated with and a computer implemented method of managing traffic of a mobile device exhibiting communication functionality. The mobile device is connectable to users and to content providers via communication links. The system tracks various parameters over time, and schedules communication, both in relation to predefined or projected content responsive of the following: users'"'"' content related behavior, users'"'"' communication behavior, users'"'"' external behavior, and parameters of communication links. The method comprises: (i) tracking users'"'"' content related behavior, communication behavior and users'"'"' external behavior over time; (ii) tracking parameters of communication links over time; (iii) scheduling and initiating communication related to predefined or projected content responsive of the above mentioned criteria at time slots selected such that the communication is performed in view of users'"'"' predefined or projected preferences in accordance with the parameters of communication links.

Claims

1. A traffic managing system operatively associated with a mobile device exhibiting communication functionality associated with at least one user, exhibiting a plurality of connectivity capabilities with a plurality of content providers via a plurality of communication links, the traffic managing system comprising:

a tracker that is arranged to track, over time, users'"'"' content related behavior and users'"'"' communication behavior; and

a scheduler that is arranged to initiate communication related to predefined content responsive of the users'"'"' content related behavior, users'"'"' communication behavior, users'"'"' external behavior at time slots selected such that the communication is performed in view of users'"'"' predefined preferences in accordance with the parameters of communication links.

2. The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the scheduler is arranged to initiate communication in relation to status parameters of the mobile device.

The traffic managing system of claim 1, further comprising a server connected to the mobile device via a communication link, the server including a database comprising information relating to at least part of the users'"'"' content related behavior, communication behavior and external behavior, the parameters of communication links, the predefined content, or a combination thereof.

4. The traffic managing system of claim 1, further comprising a mediator connected via a communication link to the mobile device and arranged to process traffic such that the communication is performed in accordance with parameters supplied by at least one of:

the tracker;

the scheduler;

the at least one user; and

the server.

The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the tracker is arranged to track over time data relating to the users'"'"' geographical location and the scheduler selects the time slots such that the communication is performed in view of users'"'"' predefined or projected preferences in accordance with at least one of the users'"'"' content related behavior;

users'"'"' communication behavior;

users'"'"' external behavior; and

parameters of communication links and with the data relating to users'"'"' geographical location over time.

The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the time slots are selected relating to at least one of an available bandwidth, an availability of the connection type in the users'"'"' route, connection costs, communication costs, a battery life, an available memory, an update duration of the users'"'"' preferred content, temporal patterns thereof, spatial pattern thereof, knowledge thereof, and a projection thereof.

The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the communication is carried out between at least two users, and the scheduler is arranged to initiate communication related to predefined content responsive to the users'"'"' external behavior, the content related behavior and communication behavior of the at least two users, at time slots selected such that the communication is performed in view of the at least two users'"'"' predefined preferences in accordance with the parameters of communication links.

8. The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the tracker is further arranged to track over time at least one of:

users'"'"' external behavior; and

parameters of communication links.

9. The traffic managing system of claim 1, wherein the tracker is further arranged to track over time data from at least one of users'"'"' navigation system, users'"'"' related databases, and databases of personal information management systems.

The traffic managing system of claim 9, wherein the server further comprises at least one grouping of users that is grouped in relation to at least one of the users'"'"' external behavior, the users'"'"' content related behavior, the users'"'"' communication behavior, the predefined or projected content, and external data related to the users.

11. The traffic managing system of claim 9, wherein the scheduler is further arranged to initiate communication at time slots selected such that the communication is performed in view of the at least one grouping of users.

12. The traffic managing system of claim 9, wherein the server or mediators comprises a module arranged to form groupings of users with logical proximity, and wherein the traffic managing system is arranged to enable exchanging data between users with logical proximity.

A computer implemented method of managing traffic of a mobile device exhibiting communication functionality associated with at least one user, exhibiting a plurality of connectivity capabilities with a plurality of content providers via a plurality of communication links, the computer implemented method comprising:

tracking users'"'"' external behavior, users'"'"' content related behavior and communication behavior over time;

tracking parameters of communication links over time;

scheduling communication related to predefined content responsive of users'"'"' external behavior, users'"'"' content related behavior and communication behavior at time slots selected such that the communication is performed in view of users'"'"' predefined preferences in accordance with the parameters of communication links; and

initiating communication related to predefined content according to said scheduling.

14. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising creating conditional tasks lists comprising at least one of time event driven tasks, resource event driven tasks, user event driven tasks, and server or mediator commanded tasks.

15. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising queuing tasks in relation to at least one of:

a state of the cache, content updated from a connection to a PC, content updated from a server or a mediator, and content updated directly from a website.

The computer implemented method of claim 13, wherein said scheduling communication related to predefined or projected content further relates to at least one of a battery status, CPU usage, an available memory, an available file-system storage, a connectivity of GPS, a connectivity of a system for determining location, and a location.

The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising enhancing said scheduling communication by utilizing data from at least one of users'"'"' navigation system, users related databases, databases of personal information management systems, and server or mediator side information about events.

18. The computer implemented method of claim 13, wherein initiating communication is carried out between at least one of:

at least one user and at least one server; and

at least two users.

The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising clustering the users into groups with similar characteristics relating to at least one of the users'"'"' external behavior, the users'"'"' content related behavior, the users'"'"' communication behavior, the predefined or projected content, and external data related to the users.

20. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising grouping users with logical proximity, and enable exchanging data between users with logical proximity.

21. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising predicting user content consuming relating to at least one of data from at least one of:

users'"'"' navigation system, users'"'"' related databases, databases of personal information management systems such as a digital calendar, and other applications.

22. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising storing user preferences in a secure entity and using an anonymous identification for the user.

23. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising defining and configuring priorities related to stages of the computer implemented method, wherein configuring priorities may be carried out manually or automatically.

The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising sharing information among the mobile devices, wherein the information is related to at least one of the users'"'"' connectivity, the users'"'"' external behavior, the users'"'"' content related behavior, the users'"'"' communication behavior, the predefined or projected content, and external data related to the users.

The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising utilizing content related to the user to gather information relating to at least one of the users'"'"' external behavior, the users'"'"' content related behavior, and the users communication behavior characteristics relating to other users.

26. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising synchronizing content by at least one of:

the mobile device;

a server; and

a mediator, in at least one of;

automatically, manually, a combination thereof.

27. The computer implemented method of claim 13, further comprising tracking data relating to users'"'"' geographical location over time.

28. The computer implemented method of claim 27, wherein said tracking parameters of communication links further comprises tracking parameters of communication links at different users'"'"' geographical locations.

29. The computer implemented method of claim 28, wherein said scheduling communication further comprises selecting the time slots in view of users'"'"' predefined preferences in accordance with users'"'"' geographical locations over time.

The computer implemented method of claim 29, further comprising determining the guidelines for preloading and caching by combining the information tracked in at least one of the tracking users'"'"' external behavior, users'"'"' content related behavior and communication behavior over time, the tracking data relating to users'"'"' geographical location over time;

and the tracking parameters of communication links.
