Abstract

A recharging system for a rechargeable battery in an electronic device includes a receiver and a power supply. The receiver is fixed to a surface of a casing of the electronic device. The receiver includes a receiving coil connected to the rechargeable battery. The receiving coil is a planar spiral coil substantially parallel to the surface of the casing of the electronic device. The power supply includes a base and a source coil attached to a surface of the base corresponding to the receiving coil, and the source coil is a planar spiral coil and capable of magnetically coupling to the receiving coil of the receiver.

Claims

1. A recharging system for recharging a rechargeable battery in an electronic device, the recharging system comprising:

a receiver fixed to a surface of a casing of the electronic device, the receiver comprising a receiving coil connected to the rechargeable battery, the receiving coil being a planar spiral coil substantially parallel to the surface of the casing of the electronic device; and

a power supply comprising a base and a source coil attached to a surface of the base corresponding to the receiving coil, the source coil being a planar spiral coil and capable of magnetically coupling to the receiving coil of the receiver.

2. The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the receiver further comprises a first core disposed inside the receiving coil, and the power supply further comprises a second core disposed inside the source coil.

The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the receiver further comprises a plurality of electromagnets surrounding the receiving coil, and the power supply further comprises a plurality of positioning portions surrounding the source coil corresponding to the plurality of electromagnets, the positioning portions being capable of being attracted by the plurality of electromagnets.

4. The recharging system as claimed in claim 3, wherein the positioning portions are electromagnets or permanent magnets.

5. The recharging system as claimed in claim 3, wherein the positioning portions are made of a material selected from the group consisting of iron, cobalt, nickel and combinations thereof.

6. The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the casing of the electronic device is made of electrical insulating material, and the receiving coil is secured on the surface of the casing directly.

The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the receiver further comprises a base, the base of the receiver comprising a first surface attached to the surface of the casing of the electronic device, and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the receiving coil being attached to the second surface of the base of the receiver.

8. The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the receiver is fixed to an inner surface of the casing of the electronic device.

9. The recharging system as claimed in claim 1, wherein the casing defines a receiving space on an outer surface of the casing, and the receiver is received in the receiving space.

10. An electronic device capable of using a rechargeable battery, comprising:

a casing;

a battery housing received in the casing for receiving the rechargeable battery, the battery housing comprising two electrical contacts for electrically connecting two electrodes of the rechargeable battery; and

a receiver fixed to a surface of the casing of the electronic device, the receiver comprising a receiving coil, the two ends of the receiving coil being connected to the two electrical contacts of the battery housing respectively, the receiving coil being a planar spiral coil substantially parallel to the surface of the casing of the electronic device, the receiving coil configured for inductively coupling to a magnetic field produced by a power supply.

11. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the receiver further comprises a first core disposed inside the receiving coil.

12. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the receiver further comprises a plurality of electromagnets surrounding the receiving coil.

13. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the casing of the electronic device is made of electrical insulating material, and the receiving coil is secured on the surface of the casing directly.

14. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the receiver further comprises a base, the base of the receiver comprising a first surface attached to the surface of the casing of the electronic device, and a second surface opposite to the first surface, the receiving coil being attached to the second surface of the base of the receiver.

15. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the receiver is fixed to an inner surface of the casing of the electronic device.

16. The electronic device as claimed in claim 10, wherein the casing defines a receiving space on an outer surface of the casing, and the receiver is received in the receiving space.

17. A recharging system, comprising:

an electronic device, comprising;

a casing;

a battery housing received in the casing for receiving a rechargeable battery, the battery housing comprising two electrical contacts for electrically connecting two electrodes of the rechargeable battery; and

a receiver fixed to a surface of the casing of the electronic device, the receiver comprising a receiving coil, the two ends of the receiving coil being connected to the two electrical contacts of the battery housing respectively, the receiving coil being a planar spiral coil substantially parallel to the surface of the casing of the electronic device, the receiving coil configured for inductively coupling to a magnetic field produced by a power supply, and

a power supply comprising a base and a source coil attached to a surface of the base corresponding to the receiving coil, the source coil being a planar spiral coil and capable of magnetically coupling to the receiving coil of the receiver.

18. The recharging system as claimed in claim 17, wherein the receiver further comprises a first core disposed inside the receiving coil, and the power supply further comprises a second core disposed inside the source coil.

19. The recharging system as claimed in claim 17, wherein the receiver further comprises a plurality of electromagnets surrounding the receiving coil, and the power supply further comprises a plurality of positioning portions surrounding the source coil corresponding to the plurality of electromagnets, the positioning portions being capable of being attracted by the plurality of electromagnets.

20. The recharging system as claimed in claim 17, wherein the receiver is fixed to an inner surface of the casing of the electronic device.
