Abstract

A data transmission method for a mobile communication system is disclosed. A data transmission method at a specific protocol layer of a reception end of a mobile communication system includes receiving at least one data block of a specific protocol layer from a transmission end, and transmitting reception status indication information to the transmission end according to a reception status of the data block of the specific protocol layer. As a result, data can be more quickly and effectively transmitted to a destination.

Claims

1. A data transmission method at a specific protocol layer of a reception end of a mobile communication system comprising:

a) receiving at least one data block of a specific protocol layer from a transmission end; and

b) transmitting reception status indication information to the transmission end according to a reception status of the data block of the specific protocol layer.

2. The data transmission method according to claim 1, wherein the transmission step b) is periodically performed, and the period of the transmission step b) is changed according to the reception status of the data block.

3. The data transmission method according to claim 2, wherein the data block reception status of the specific protocol layer is at least one of a status of a reception buffer of the specific protocol layer and a status indicating the presence or absence of a data block to be received.

4. A data transmission method at a specific protocol layer of a transmission end of a mobile communication system comprising:

a) receiving first reception status indication information associated with first time information and second reception status indication information associated with second time information from a reception end; and

b) comparing the first time information with the second time information.

5. The data transmission method according to claim 4, wherein the time information is indicative of a specific time at which the reception status indication information is received from the reception end.

6. The data transmission method according to claim 4, wherein the time information is indicative of a specific time at which the reception status indication information is generated from the reception end or is transmitted to the transmission end.

7. A method for transmitting reception status indication information at a specific protocol layer of a reception end of a mobile communication system comprising:

a) receiving at least one data block associated with a specific protocol layer from a transmission end; and

b) if a transmission period of reception status indication information of the at least one data block has elapsed, determining whether the reception status indication information is transmitted to the transmission end according to a status of a reception buffer.

8. The method according to claim 7, further comprising:

if the reception buffer is not empty, transmitting the reception status indication information to the transmission end.

9. The method according to claim 8, wherein the reception status indication information includes identification information of the at least one data block which has not been transmitted to the reception end.

10. A method for allowing a specific protocol layer of a reception end of a mobile communication system to periodically transmit reception status indication information comprising:

receiving at least one data block associated with a specific protocol layer from a transmission end; and

determining whether a timer for measuring a transmission period of reception status indication information of the at least one data block is driven or not according to a status of a reception buffer.

11. The method according to claim 10, further comprising:

if the status of the reception buffer is changed from a first status having no data block to a second status having the at least one data block, driving the timer.

12. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

if the status of the reception buffer is changed from the second status having the at least one data block to the first status having no data block, stopping operation of the timer.

13. The method according to claim 11, further comprising:

if the driven timer has expired, transmitting the reception status indication information associated with the at least one data block to the transmission end.

14. A method for allowing a specific protocol layer of a reception end of a mobile communication system to periodically transmit reception status indication information comprising:

receiving at least one data block associated with a specific protocol layer from a transmission end; and

periodically transmitting reception status indication information of the at least one data block to the transmission end according to a transmission period variably decided by a status of a reception buffer.

15. The method according to claim 14, further comprising:

if the sum of size of the at least one data block stored in the reception buffer is equal to or higher than a predetermined size, reducing the transmission period; and

if the sum of size of the at least one data block stored in the reception buffer is less than the predetermined size, increasing the transmission period.

16. The method according to claim 14, further comprising:

if the sum of the number of the at least one data block stored in the reception buffer is equal to or higher than a predetermined number, reducing the transmission period; and

if the sum of the number of the at least one data block stored in the reception buffer is less than the predetermined number, increasing the transmission period.

17. A method for allowing a specific protocol layer of a transmission end of a mobile communication system to retransmit at least one data block comprising:

receiving first reception status indication information associated with at least one data block transmitted to a reception end from the reception end; and

retransmitting the at least one data block according to the first reception status indication information in consideration of second reception status indication information received from the reception end.

18. The method according to claim 17, wherein at least one of the first reception status indication information and the second reception status indication information includes at least one of generation time information and transmission time information, in which

the generation time information is indicative of a specific time at which each reception status indication information of the reception end is generated, and

the transmission time information is indicative of a specific time at which each reception status indication information of the reception end is transmitted to the transmission end.

19. The method according to claim 18, wherein:

the second reception status indication information is received by the transmission end at a time earlier than that of the first reception status indication information, or

the second reception status indication information is generated from the reception end at a time earlier than that of the first reception status indication information, or is transmitted to the transmission end at a time earlier than that of the first reception status indication information.
