Abstract

Embodiments may comprise logic such as hardware and/or code to map content of a device such as a mobile device, a laptop, a desktop, or a server, to a two dimensional field or table and map user poses or movements to the coordinates within the table to offer quick access to the content by a user. Many embodiments, for example, utilize three wireless peripherals such as a watch, ring, and headset connected to a mobile Internet device (MID) comprising an audible user interface and an auditory mapper to access to the content. The audible user interface may communicatively couple with the peripherals to receive pose data that describes the motion or movements associated with one or more of the peripherals and to provide feedback such as audible items and, in some embodiments, other feedback.

Claims

1. A method for auditory mapping, the method comprising:

associating pose data from a user interface with a first mapping of a first set of cells, each cell of the first set of cells having a width, a height, and coordinates associated within a row and column of the first mapping;

associating the first mapping of the first cells with a reference location having reference coordinates;

interpreting the pose data from the user interface to identify a first speed of more than one speeds and a first pose location based upon the reference location, the first pose location having a first set of coordinates within the first mapping;

associating a first cell with the first pose location based upon the first set of coordinates; and

determining a first audible item associated with the first cell based upon traversal of the first cell at the first speed; and

transmitting the first audible item to the user interface to output audio associated with the first cell.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising interpreting subsequent pose data from the user interface to identify a second speed of the more than one speeds changes the size of at least of one of the first set of cells at with a subsequent pose location

The method of claim 2, wherein interpreting the subsequent pose data indicates traversal over a second pose location associated with a second cell of the first set of cells at the second speed, wherein the second speed being slower than the first speed and, based upon the second speed, increasing the size of the second cell with respect to the size of the second cell while traversing at the first speed.

The method of claim 2, wherein interpreting the subsequent pose data indicates traversal over a second pose location associated with a second cell of the first set of cells at the second speed, wherein the second speed being slower than the first speed and, based upon the second speed, transmitting a second audible item, the second audible item having a longer duration than the first audible item.

5. The method of claim 2, wherein interpreting the subsequent pose data indicates traversal over a third pose location associated with a third cell of the first set of cells at a third speed, wherein the third speed being faster than the first speed and, based upon the third speed, decreasing the size of the third cell with respect to the size of the third cell while traversing at the first speed.

6. The method of claim 2, wherein interpreting the subsequent pose data indicates traversal over a third pose location associated with a third cell of the first set of cells at a third speed, wherein the third speed being faster than the first speed and, based upon the third speed, transmitting a third audible item, the third audible item having a shorter duration than the first audible item.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the pose data from the user interface, wherein the pose data comprises data indicative of angular movement, the angular movement comprising angular movement substantially along a surface of a sphere with longitudinal and latitudinal components.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising processing the longitudinal and latitudinal components of the pose data to determine the first set of coordinates and comparing the first set of coordinates with the first mapping to determine that the first pose location is within the first cell.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising adjusting the audible item with a head related transfer function to disperse output audio between one or more speakers in a manner that can be perceived as indicative of the first pose location with respect to the first cell.

10. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a selection signal while the pose data indicates a third set of coordinates that reside within a fifth cell and, in response, changing the first mapping.

The computer program product of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise interpreting subsequent pose data from the user interface to identify a second speed of the more than one speeds and changing the size of at least of one of the first set of cells at with a subsequent pose location based upon the second speed.

29. The computer program product of claim 2, wherein the operations further comprise transmitting a second audible item, the second audible item having a longer duration than the first audible item based upon the second speed.

30. The computer program product of claim 2, wherein the operations further comprise transmitting a second audible item, the second audible item having a shorter duration than the first audible item based upon the second speed.

11. An apparatus for auditory mapping, the apparatus comprising:

a pose data interpreter to interpret the pose data from the user interface to identify a first speed of more than one speeds;

a pose state determiner to associate pose data from a user interface with a first mapping of a first set of cells, each cell of the first set of cells having a width, a height, and coordinates associated within a row and column of the first mapping, to associate the first mapping of the first cells with a reference location having reference coordinates, and to associate a current pose state with the first speed and with a first pose location based upon the reference location, the first pose location having a first set of coordinates within the first mapping, wherein the pose state determiner comprises a cell associator to associate a first cell with the first pose location based upon the first set of coordinates; and

an audio output logic to determine a first audible item associated with the first cell based upon traversal of the first cell at the first speed and to transmit the first audible item to the user interface to output audio associated with the first cell.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the pose state determiner comprises magnification logic to change the size of the first cell in response to changing speed.

13. The system of claim 11, further comprising audio output logic to transmit a second audible item associated with the first cell in response to slowing pose change speed, the second audible item having a longer duration than the first audible item.

14. The system of claim 11, wherein audio output logic comprises logic to transmit a third audible item associated with the first cell in response to increasing pose change speed, the third audible item having a shorter duration than the first audible item.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the pose data interpreter comprises an angular movement processor to receive the pose data from the user interface, wherein the pose data comprises data indicative of angular movement, the angular movement comprising angular movement substantially along a surface of a sphere with longitudinal and latitudinal components.

16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the pose data interpreter comprises the angular movement processor to process the longitudinal and latitudinal components of the pose data to determine the first set of coordinates.

17. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the pose state determiner comprises magnification logic to change sizes of more than one of the first set of cells based upon a change from the first speed, the more than one of the first set of cells being proximate to the first pose location.

18. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the pose state determiner comprises a selection logic to receive a selection signal while the current pose state is within the first cell and mapping logic to responsively change the first mapping.

19. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the mapping logic comprises logic to replace the first mapping to a second mapping and associate the second mapping with a new reference location.

20. The apparatus of claim 19, wherein the mapping logic comprises logic to instruct the pose state determiner to interpret the subsequent pose data to traverse a list of a second set of cells sequentially.

21. A system for auditory mapping, the system comprising:

an auditory mapper to interpret pose data from an audible user interface to identify a first speed of more than one speeds;

to associate pose data from a audible user interface with a first mapping of a first set of cells, each cell of the first set of cells having a width, a height, and coordinates associated within a row and column of the first mapping, to associate the first mapping of the first cells with a reference location having reference coordinates, and to associate a current pose state with the first speed and with a first pose location based upon the reference location, the first pose location having a first set of coordinates within the first mapping, wherein the pose state determiner comprises a cell associator to associate a first cell with the first pose location based upon the first set of coordinates;

an to determine a first audible item associated with the first cell based upon traversal of the first cell at the first speed and to transmit the first audible item to the user interface to output audio associated with the first cell;

a wireless transmitter/receiver; and

the audible user interface coupled with the wireless transmitter/receiver to receive the pose data to traverse the first mapping and to transmit the pose data to the auditory mapper.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the pose state determiner comprises magnification logic to change the size of the first cell in response to changing speed.

23. The system of claim 21, further comprising audio output logic to transmit a second audible item associated with the first cell in response to slowing changing pose speed, the second audible item having a longer duration than the first audible item.

24. The system of claim 21, wherein audio output logic comprises logic to transmit a third audible item associated with the first cell in response to increasing speed, the third audible item having a shorter duration than the first audible item.

25. The system of claim 21, wherein the audio output logic comprises transfer function logic to adjust the audible item with a head related transfer function to disperse output audio between one or more speakers in a manner that can be perceived by a user in proximity of the at least two speakers as indicative of the first pose location with respect to the first cell.

26. The system of claim 21, wherein the pose state determiner comprises a selection logic to receive a selection signal while the current pose state is within the first cell and mapping logic to responsively change the first mapping.

27. A computer program product for auditory mapping, the computer program product comprising:

a computer useable medium having a computer useable program code embodied therewith, the computer useable program code comprising;

computer useable program code configured to perform operations, the operations comprising;

associating pose data from a user interface with a first mapping of a first set of cells, each cell of the first set of cells having a width, a height, and coordinates associated within a row and column of the first mapping;

associating the first mapping of the first cells with a reference location having reference coordinates;

interpreting the pose data from the user interface to identify a first speed of more than one speeds and a first pose location based upon the reference location, the first pose location having a first set of coordinates within the first mapping;

associating a first cell with the first pose location based upon the first set of coordinates; and

determining a first audible item associated with the first cell based upon traversal of the first cell at the first speed; and

transmitting the first audible item to output audio associated with the first cell.
