Abstract

A portable terminal is capable of managing data. The portable terminal includes a controller, a display, a memory and a data management unit. The data management unit can sort pre-stored data in the memory as keyword-related data. The data management unit also can sort the pre-stored data depending on frequency of user'"'"'s use, and outputting, to the display, the sorted data by layer.

Claims

1. An apparatus for managing data in a portable terminal, the apparatus comprising:

a data management unit configured to;

sort pre-stored data as keyword-related data,

sort the pre-stored data depending on frequency of user'"'"'s use, and

output the sorted data by layer.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data management unit is configured to:

determine a keyword to sort the data;

sort data relative to the keyword;

extract another keyword from the sorted data; and

by performing the processes for all data, sort the keyword-related data.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data management unit is configured to output the sorted data in descending frequency of user'"'"'s use order, centering on a layer of great frequency of user'"'"'s use.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, the data management unit is configured to change layer order according to a key input for layer zoom-out/zoom-in.

5. The apparatus of claim 4, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, data management unit is configured to apply any one piece of data comprised in the layer to another piece of data in a drag-and-drop scheme.

6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, if selecting any one piece of data comprised in the layer, the data management unit is configured to output a menu capable of controlling the selected data.

7. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data management unit is configured to generate layers each marked with different colors depending upon a frequency of use.

8. A method for managing data in a portable terminal, the method comprising:

sorting, by a data management unit, pre-stored data as keyword-related data;

sorting, by the data management unit the pre-stored data depending on frequency of user'"'"'s use; and

sorting and outputting, by the data management unit the sorted data corresponding to frequency of user'"'"'s use by layer.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein sorting the pre-stored data as the keyword-related data further comprises:

determining a keyword to sort the data;

sorting data relative to the keyword;

extracting another keyword from the sorted data; and

performing the processes for all data corresponding to all applications.

10. The method of claim 8, wherein sorting and outputting the data corresponding to the frequency of user'"'"'s use by layer further comprises outputting in descending frequency of user'"'"'s use order, centering on a layer of great frequency of user'"'"'s use.

11. The method of claim 8, further comprising, after sorting and outputting the data corresponding to the frequency of user'"'"'s use by layer, changing layer order according to a key input for layer zoom-out/zoom-in.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising, after sorting and outputting the data corresponding to the frequency of user'"'"'s use by layer, applying any one piece of data comprised in the layer to another piece of data in a drag-and-drop scheme.

13. The method of claim 12, further comprising, after sorting and outputting the data corresponding to the frequency of user'"'"'s use by layer, if selecting any one piece of data comprised in the layer, outputting a menu capable of controlling the selected data.

14. The method of claim 8, wherein the layers can be each marked with different colors depending on a frequency of use.

15. A portable terminal capable of managing data, the portable terminal comprising:

a controller;

a display unit coupled to the controller

a memory coupled to the controller; and

a data management unit coupled to the controller and configured to;

sort pre-stored data in the memory as keyword-related data,

sort the pre-stored data depending on frequency of user'"'"'s use, and

output, to the display unit, the sorted data by layer.

16. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the data management unit is configured to:

determine a keyword to sort the data;

sort data relative to the keyword;

extract another keyword from the sorted data; and

by performing the processes for all data, sort the keyword-related data.

17. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the data management unit is configured to output the sorted data in descending frequency of user'"'"'s use order centering on a layer of great frequency of user'"'"'s use.

18. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, the data management unit is configured to change layer order according to a key input for layer zoom-out/zoom-in.

19. The portable terminal of claim 18, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, data management unit is configured to apply any one piece of data comprised in the layer to another piece of data in a drag-and-drop scheme.

20. The portable terminal of claim 19, wherein, after outputting the sorted data by layer, if selecting any one piece of data comprised in the layer, the data management unit is configured to output a menu capable of controlling the selected data.

21. The portable terminal of claim 15, wherein the data management unit is configured to generate layers each marked with different colors depending upon a frequency of use.
