1. A method for scheduling an appointment between a client and a provider, said method comprising the steps of:
- establishing a transaction database and at least one transaction monitoring rule;
receiving a request from said client to schedule an appointment with said provider;
providing said client with at least one available appointment time for said appointment;
receiving a selected appointment time from said client and logging said selected appointment time in said transaction database, wherein said selected appointment time is chosen from said at least one available appointment time;
communicating said selected appointment time to said provider;
determining whether said provider has accepted said selected appointment time;
when said provider has accepted said selected appointment time, communicating a confirmation of said selected appointment time to said client and logging said acceptance of said selected appointment time in said transaction database; and
applying said transaction monitoring rule to said transaction database to identify the presence of an exceptional transaction in said transaction database.

A system for scheduling an appointment between a client and a provider including a monitoring and validation component that includes a transaction database, a validation engine and at least one transaction monitoring rule, and an Internet-based scheduling component the populates the transaction database, wherein the validation engine is configured to apply the transaction monitoring rules to the transaction database to identify the presence of exceptional transactions in the transaction database.
