1. A method for arranging meetings between two or more users, comprising:
- receiving by a server a request from a first user over a network to create an invitation for a proposed meeting;
determining whether one or more rules associated with invitation creation apply to the request from the first user to create the invitation;
processing the request if all rules determined to be applicable are satisfied; and
denying the request if one or more rules determined to be applicable are not satisfied;
wherein;
said invitation includes general location information and specific location information for said proposed meeting;
said server allows other users to view the general location information before accepting the invitation; and
said server allows the specific location information to be viewed only by users who have accepted the invitation and have been approved by the first user.

receiving by a server a request over a network from an accepting user to accept an invitation for a proposed meeting; determining whether one or more rules associated with invitation acceptance apply to the request to accept the invitation; processing the request if all rules determined to be applicable are satisfied; and denying the request if one or more rules determined to be applicable are not satisfied; the method further comprising; allowing the accepting user to elect among (a) not including a comment in the request;
(b) including a private comment in the request, said private comment viewable only by an inviting user who initiated the invitation; and

receiving by a server a request from a user over a network to create a counterproposal to an invitation for a proposed meeting; determining whether one or more rules associated with invitation counterproposals apply to the request to create a counterproposal; processing the request if all rules determined to be applicable are satisfied; and denying the request if one or more rules determined to be applicable are not satisfied; wherein said user is provided with an option, if said counterproposal is not accepted, to generate a new invitation based on said counterproposal by incorporating at least one attribute of said counterproposal into said new invitation. - View Dependent Claims (9, 10)

receiving by a server a request from a first user over a network to process an invitation for a proposed meeting; determining whether one or more notification rules apply to the invitation, said one or more notification rules unrelated to processing the invitation; and providing to a second user over the network a notification in accordance with one or more of the notification rules that are determined to be applicable to the invitation; wherein said second user receives notifications regarding posted invitations based on a location of a mobile electronic device carried by said second user and a location and time of the posted invitation.
