Abstract

An interactive document retrieval device that has a processor for receiving first indicating data identifying a page identity and one or more locations on a first interactive document having a corresponding page description stored in one of a plurality of servers and, a print engine having a printhead. The processor is configured to use the page identity contained in the first indicating data to determine a network address of a server handling the page description corresponding to the first interactive document, send second indicating data to said network address identified using the page identity, said second indicating data being based on the first indicating data, receipt of said second indicating data by said server initiating a request for a second interactive document such that the processor receives response data corresponding to the second interactive document, and instruct the print engine to provide the second interactive document via the printhead.

Claims

1. An interactive document retrieval device comprising:

a processor for receiving first indicating data identifying a page identity and one or more locations on a first interactive document having a corresponding page description stored in one of a plurality of servers; and

,

a print engine having a printhead;

wherein,

the processor is configured to use the page identity contained in the first indicating data to determine a network address of a server handling the page description corresponding to the first interactive document, send second indicating data to said network address identified using the page identity, said second indicating data being based on the first indicating data, receipt of said second indicating data by said server initiating a request for a second interactive document such that the processor receives response data corresponding to the second interactive document, and instruct the print engine to provide the second interactive document via the printhead.

2. The document retrieval device of claim 1, wherein said response data is received from said server.

The document retrieval device of claim 1 comprising a stored sensing device identity, the sensing device being configured to generate the first indicating data from first coded data disposed on the first interactive document, the processor configured to send said sensing device identity with said first indicating data and/or said second indicating data.

4. The document retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the second coded data is indicative of an identity of the second document and of a plurality of locations on the second document.

5. The document retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the printhead includes a separate ink channel for printing the second coded data.

6. The document retrieval device of claim 5, wherein the printhead is configured to print the second coded data and user information simultaneously.

7. The document retrieval device of claim 1, wherein the printhead is a pagewidth printhead.
