Abstract
A digital broadcast system having storing resistance to errors generated during the transmission of mobile service data, and a data processing method are disclosed. The digital broadcast system additionally encodes mobile service data. As a result, the mobile service data has strong resistance to a channel variation and noise, and at the same time the system can quickly cope with the channel variation.

16. A method of processing a broadcast signal in a transmitting system, the method comprising:

performing Reed Solomon (RS) encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) encoding on a RS frame including mobile service data and a first information table including access information of an IP stream for the mobile service data; encoding transmission parameter channel (TPC) data and fast information channel (FIC) data with a first encoding code and encoding the RS frame with a second encoding code, wherein the FIC data carries cross-layer information to enable fast mobile service acquisition, and wherein the TPC data includes FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data; and modulating and transmitting a broadcast signal including the encoded TPC and FIC data, and the encoded RS frame. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)

receiving a broadcast signal comprising a data group, the data group comprising fast information channel (FIC) data carrying cross-layer information to enable fast mobile service acquisition, transmission parameter channel (TPC) data including FIC version information for indicating an update of the FIC data, and mobile service data; demodulating the received broadcast signal; obtaining a first information table including access information of an IP stream for the mobile service data from the demodulated broadcast signal; acquiring the IP stream of the mobile service data based upon the obtained first information table; and decoding an audio or video data delivered through the acquired IP stream of the mobile service data, wherein the TPC data and FIC data are encoded with a first encoding code and the mobile service data is encoded with a second encoding code. - View Dependent Claims (27, 28, 29, 30)
