Abstract

One embodiment of the disclosure sets for a method for synchronizing multiple mobile devices in a wireless network, which includes the steps of calculating a time interval for a first mobile device to respond to a request, receiving timing information of the first mobile device, determining a first offset associated with the first mobile device based on the time interval and the timing information, receiving a first data stream including the timing information of the first mobile device, and inserting a first dataset into the first data stream based on the first offset before transmitting the first data stream.

Claims

1. A method for synchronizing multiple mobile devices in a wireless network, comprising:

calculating a time interval for a first mobile device to respond to a request;

receiving timing information of the first mobile device;

determining a first offset associated with the first mobile device based on the time interval and the timing information;

receiving a first data stream including the timing information of the first mobile device; and

inserting a first dataset into the first data stream based on the first offset before transmitting the first data stream.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a second offset associated with a second mobile device; and

adjusting the first dataset based on the second offset.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the wireless network is a cellular network.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

requesting a location information of the first mobile device; and

establishing an ad hoc network with the first mobile device when a first predetermined condition is met.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising disconnecting the first mobile device from the ad hoc network when the location information fails to meet the first predetermined condition.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

collecting networking statistics information associated with a wireless range; and

allocating resources with respect to the first mobile device based on a second predetermined condition and the networking statistics information.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the allocating step further comprises assigning a priority based on the networking statistics information to the first data stream.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the allocating step further comprises instructing the first mobile device to change a power level for transmitting data based on the networking statistics information.

9. A computer-readable medium containing a sequence of instructions for synchronizing multiple mobile devices in a wireless network, which when executed by a computing device, causes the computing device to:

calculate a time interval for a first mobile device to respond to a request;

receive timing information of the first mobile device;

determine a first offset associated with the first mobile device based on the time interval and the timing information;

receive a first data stream including the timing information of the first mobile device; and

insert a first dataset to the first data stream based on the first offset before transmitting the first data stream.

10. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to:

receive a second offset associated with a second mobile device; and

adjust the first dataset based on the second offset.

11. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to:

request a location information of the first mobile device; and

establish an ad hoc network with the first mobile device when a first predetermined condition is met.

12. The computer-readable medium of claim 11, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to disconnect the first mobile device from the ad hoc network when the location information fails to meet the first predetermined condition.

13. The computer-readable medium of claim 9, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to:

collect networking statistics information associated with a wireless range; and

allocate resources with respect to the first mobile device based on a second predetermined condition and the networking statistics information.

14. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to assign a priority based on the networking statistics information to the first data stream.

15. The computer-readable medium of claim 13, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to instruct the first mobile device to change a power level for transmitting data based on the networking statistics information.

16. A computing device configured to synchronize multiple mobile devices in a wireless network, the computing device comprises:

a memory unit; and

a processing unit, wherein the processing unit is configured to calculate a time interval for a first mobile device to respond to a request;

receive timing information of the first mobile device;

determine a first offset associated with the first mobile device based on the time interval and the timing information;

receive a first data stream including the timing information of the first mobile device; and

insert a first dataset to the first data stream based on the first offset before transmitting the first data stream.

17. The computing device of claim 16, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

receive a second offset associated with a second mobile device; and

adjust the first dataset based on the second offset.

18. The computing device of claim 16, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

request a location information of the first mobile device; and

establish an ad hoc network with the first mobile device when a first predetermined condition is met.

19. The computing device of claim 16, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

collect networking statistics information associated with the wireless range; and

allocate resources with respect to the first mobile device based on the a second predetermined condition and the networking statistics information.

20. The computing device of claim 19, wherein the processing unit is further configured to based on the networking statistics information, assign a priority to the first data stream or instruct the first mobile device to change a power level for transmitting data.

21. A method for maintaining a communication session of an interactive application in a wireless network, comprising:

determining a first identification information associated with a mobile device;

receiving a second identification information associated with the first identification information; and

maintaining the communication session utilizing the second identification information in a signaling protocol as the mobile device moves within the wireless network.

22. The method of claim 21, further comprising:

assigning the first identification information to the mobile device; and

receiving a signal indicating that the mobile device is out of a wireless range.

23. The method of claim 21, further comprising appending the second identification information to a packet destined for the mobile device, wherein the packet includes the first identification information.

24. A computer-readable medium containing a sequence of instructions for maintaining a communication session of an interactive application in a wireless network, which when executed by a computing device, causes the computing device to:

determine a first identification information associated with a mobile device;

receive a second identification information associated with the first identification information; and

maintain the communication session utilizing the second identification information in a signaling protocol as the mobile device moves within the wireless network.

25. The computer-readable medium of claim 24, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to:

assign the first identification information to the mobile device; and

receive a signal indicating that the mobile device is out of a wireless range.

26. The computer-readable medium of claim 24, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to append the second identification information to a packet destined for the mobile device, wherein the packet includes the first identification information.

27. A computing device configured to maintaining a communication session of an interactive application in a wireless network, the computing device comprises:

a memory unit; and

a processing unit, wherein the processing unit is configured to

determine a first identification information associated with a mobile device,

receive a second identification information associated with the first identification information, and

maintain the communication session utilizing the second identification information in a signaling protocol as the mobile device moves within the wireless network.

28. The computing device of claim 27, wherein the processing unit is further configured to:

assign the first identification information to the mobile device; and

receive a signal indicating that the mobile device is out of a wireless range.

29. The computing device of claim 27, wherein the processing unit is further configured to append the second identification information to a packet destined for the mobile device, wherein the packet includes the first identification information.

30. The computing device of claim 27, wherein the computing device is a switch center that manages the wireless range and associates the first identification information and the second identification information.

31. The computing device of claim 27, wherein the computing device is a base station that associates the first identification information and the second identification information.

32. A method for monitoring availability of a first mobile device in a wireless network, comprising:

receiving a first identification information associated with the first mobile device from a second mobile device in the wireless network;

extracting a second identification information from the first mobile device when the first mobile device gains access to the wireless network; and

comparing the first identification information with the second identification information to determine the availability of the first mobile device.

33. The method of claim 32, wherein the first identification information belongs to a list stored in the second mobile device.

34. The method of claim 32, wherein the first mobile device gains access to the wireless network by registering with a base station.

35. The method of claim 32, further comprising notifying the second mobile device of the availability of the first mobile device prior to the second mobile device requesting to establish a communication session involving the first mobile device.

36. A computer-readable medium containing a sequence of instructions for monitoring availability of a first mobile device in a wireless network, which when executed by a computing device, causes the computing device to:

receive a first identification information associated with the first mobile device from a second mobile device in the wireless network;

extract a second identification information from the first mobile device when the first mobile device gains access to the wireless network; and

compare the first identification information with the second identification information to determine the availability of the first mobile device.

37. The computer-readable medium of claim 36, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to notify the second mobile device of the availability of the first mobile device prior to the second mobile device requesting to establish a communication session involving the first mobile device.

38. A computing device configured to monitoring availability of a first mobile device in a wireless network to exchange data, the computing device comprises:

a memory unit; and

a processing unit, wherein the processing unit is configured to

receive a first identification information associated with the first mobile device from a second mobile device in the wireless network,

extract a second identification information from the first mobile device when the first mobile device gains access to the wireless network; and

compare the first identification information with the second identification information to determine the availability of the first mobile device.

39. The computing device of claim 38, wherein the processing unit is further configured to notify the second mobile device of the availability of the first mobile device prior to the second mobile device requesting to establish a communication session involving the first mobile device.

40. A method for processing data based on information associated with a mobile device in a wireless network, comprising:

receiving a selected choice from the mobile device;

retrieving multimedia data in response to the selected choice;

processing the multimedia data when the selected choice is supported by the mobile device; and

transmitting the processed multimedia data.

41. The method of claim 40, wherein the selected choice indicates a number of windows to be displayed on the mobile device.

42. The method of claim 41, wherein the processing step further comprises compressing the multimedia data based on the selected choice.

43. A computer-readable medium containing a sequence of instructions for processing data based on information associated with a mobile device in a wireless network, which when executed by a computing device, causes the computing device to:

receive a selected choice from the mobile device;

retrieve multimedia data in response to the selected choice;

process the multimedia data when determining the selected choice is supported by the mobile device; and

transmit the processed multimedia data.

44. The computer-readable medium of claim 43, further contains a sequence of instructions, when executed by the computing device, causes the computing device to compress the multimedia data based on the selected choice, wherein the selected choice indicates a parameter of the mobile device to be adapted to another mobile device in the wireless network.

45. A computing device configured to process data by adapting to information associated with a mobile device in a wireless network, the computing device comprises:

a memory unit; and

a processing unit, wherein the processing unit is configured to

receive a selected choice from the mobile device,

retrieve multimedia data in response to the selected choice,

process the multimedia data when the selected choice is supported by the mobile device; and

transmit the processed multimedia data.

46. The computing device of claim 45, wherein the processing unit is further configured to compress the multimedia data based on the selected choice, wherein the selected choice indicates a number of windows to be displayed on the mobile device.
