Abstract

An approach is provided for utilizing role-based presentation interfaces. A role of a user among a plurality of roles is determined. The user is among a plurality of users that are grouped based on the roles. A presentation interface is populated with sales related information based on the determined role.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

determining one of a plurality of groups associated with a user, wherein grouping of the user is based on a criterion; and

populating a presentation interface with sales related information based on the determined group.

2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the criterion includes either channel, user type, or role, wherein the role specifies a predetermined set of job functions.

3. A method according to claim 2, further comprising:

restricting the user access to report information or workflow applications according to the role of the user.

4. A method according to claim 2, further comprising:

permitting the user access to sales related information of another one of the user according to the role of the user.

5. A method according to claim 1, wherein the presentation interface is configured according to user preference.

6. A method according to claim 1, wherein the presentation interface includes,

a first section specifying a work queue of the user,

a second section specifying sales activities, and

a third section specifying compensation information for the user.

7. A method according to claim 1, wherein the presentation interface includes,

a first section specifying sales assignment information, and

a second section specifying status of work queues corresponding to sales orders.

8. A method according to claim 1, wherein the presentation interface includes a graphical user interface (GUI).

9. An apparatus comprising:

a processor configured to determine one of a plurality of groups associated with a user, wherein grouping of the user is based on a criterion, and the processor is further configured to populate a presentation interface with sales related information based on the determined group.

10. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the criterion includes either channel, user type, or role, wherein the role specifies a predetermined set of job functions.

11. An apparatus according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to restrict the user access to report information or workflow applications according to the role of the user.

12. An apparatus according to claim 10, wherein the processor is further configured to permit the user access to sales related information of another one of the user according to the role of the user.

13. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the presentation interface is configured according to user preference.

14. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the presentation interface includes,

a first section specifying a work queue of the user,

a second section specifying sales activities, and

a third section specifying compensation information for the user.

15. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the presentation interface includes,

a first section specifying sales assignment information, and

a second section specifying status of work queues corresponding to sales orders.

16. An apparatus according to claim 9, wherein the presentation interface includes a graphical user interface (GUI).

17. A method comprising:

presenting a user interface with sales related information based on a grouping of a user, wherein the user assigned to a group among a plurality of groups according to a grouping criterion.

18. A method according to claim 17, wherein the grouping criterion includes either channel, user type, or role, wherein the role specifies a predetermined set of job functions.

19. A method according to claim 18, wherein the user is restricted from accessing report information or workflow applications according to the role of the user.

20. A method according to claim 18, wherein the user is permit access to sales related information of another one of the user according to the role of the user.

21. A method according to claim 17, wherein the user interface is configured according to user preference.

22. A method according to claim 17, wherein the user interface includes,

a first section specifying a work queue of the user,

a second section specifying sales activities, and

a third section specifying compensation information for the user.

23. A method according to claim 17, wherein the user interface includes,

a first section specifying sales assignment information, and

a second section specifying status of work queues corresponding to sales orders.
