Abstract

A method of generating a data block to be transmitted from a protocol layer to a receiving side in a wireless communication system, the protocol layer having a header compression function, comprises generating at least one of a control packet which includes control information and a compressed packet generated by header compression for an upper layer data block, and generating a first lower layer data block which includes type indication information and the control packet, if the control packet is generated, the type indication information indicating a type of control information included in the generated control packet.

Claims

1. A method of generating a data block to be transmitted to a receiving side at a protocol layer performing a header compression function in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

generating at least one of a control packet comprising control information and a compressed packet generated by performing header compression for an upper layer data block; and

if the control packet is generated, generating a first lower layer data block which comprises type indication information and the control packet, the type indication information indicating a type of control information included in the generated control packet.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein generating at least one of the control packet and the compressed packet is carried out by an entity which performs the header compression function.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating, if the compressed packet is generated, a second lower layer data block which includes an indicator and the compressed packet, the indicator indicating that data included in the compressed packet is user data.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first lower layer data block further comprises an indicator indicating that data included in the control packet is control data.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the type indication information and the indicator are included in a header of the first lower layer data block.

6. The method of claim 3, further comprising performing ciphering for the compressed packet.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein ciphering is not performed for the control packet.

8. The method of claim 3, wherein the second lower layer data block includes a sequence number while the first lower layer data block does not include a sequence number.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the control information included in the control packet has no relation with the upper layer data block.

The method of claim 9, wherein the control information is header compression feedback information associated with the data block received from the receiving side, and the type indication information indicates that the type of the control information is the header compression feedback information.

11. The method of claim 9, wherein the control information is status information for at least one data block received from the receiving side, and the type indication information indicates that the type of the control information is the status information.

12. A method of generating a data block to be transmitted from a transmitting side to a receiving side in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:

generating a control packet at a protocol entity which carries out header compression for an upper layer data block, the control information being associated with a data block received from the receiving side; and

generating a first data block which comprises a header and the control packet, the header comprising a type field indicating a type of the control information included in the generated control packet.

The method of claim 12, wherein the control information is header compression feedback information associated with at least one data block received from the receiving side, and the type indication information indicates that the type of the control information is the header compression feedback information.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein the control information is status information for at least one data block received from the receiving side, and the type indication information indicates that the type of the control information is the status information.

15. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

generating a header packet by performing header compression on an upper layer data block in the protocol entity;

performing ciphering on the header packet; and

generating a second data block by adding a header to the header packet for which ciphering has been performed.
