Abstract

An information apparatus with access to content is managed by establishing a communication channel between the information apparatus and an output device and receiving over the communication channel an output device profile associated with the output device. The information apparatus obtains one or more image attributes associated with the output device and conforms at least part of the content into one or more output images with the image attributes. The information apparatus generates an output data that includes the output images and is associated with the output device, and delivers the output data to the output device for rendering.

22. A wireless output device, distinct and separate from a wireless information apparatus, for rendering on a display or a projection screen digital content received from the wireless information apparatus, said wireless output device comprising:

a wireless communication unit at the wireless output device to receive an intermediate output data via wireless communication from a wireless information apparatus, the intermediate output data corresponding to at least part of the digital content that includes at least an image data encoded with compression, the image data including two or more image layers, said intermediate output data including at least one of image elements, graphics elements, video elements and text elements, individually or in any combination;

a wireless communication software at the wireless output device for establishing and managing wireless communication with the wireless information apparatus, the managing of the wireless communication including at least one of sending and receiving a security key for enabling restricted wireless communication;

an interpreter at the wireless output device for receiving the intermediate output data and retrieving said image data from said intermediate output data, the retrieving of said image data including at least a decompression operation;

a rendering processor at the wireless output device for carrying out at least one image processing operation on the image data, said image processing operation adjusting at least one of a bit depth, a color space, a color correction, and a combination of output size and resolution of the interpreted data, individually or in any combination, and

an output engine at the wireless output device for receiving data from said processor and employing the data received from the processor to render the digital content;

and wherein the wireless output device is a display device or a projection device, and the output engine renders the content to a display or a projection screen.

23. The wireless output device of claim 22 further comprising an audio output unit for rendering audio.

24. The wireless output device of claim 22 in which the image data included in the intermediate output data comprises two or more image layers and at least one image layer is encoded with a different resolution from at least one other image layer.

25. The wireless output device of claim 22 in which the wireless output device includes a television or a projector.

26. The wireless output device of claim 22 further comprising a memory component for storing an output device profile or object for providing over wireless communication the output device profile or object from the wireless output device to the one or more wireless information apparatus.

27. The wireless output device of claim 26 in which the output device profile comprises attributes related to the wireless output device.

28. The wireless output device of claim 26 in which the output device profile for providing over wireless communication from the wireless output device to the one or more wireless information apparatus further comprising software component for running at the wireless information apparatus.

29. The wireless output device of claim 22 in which the managing of the wireless communication further includes providing at least an indication of the identity of the wireless output device over wireless communication to at least one wireless information apparatus.

A wireless output device for rendering on a display or a projection screen digital content managed with a wireless information apparatus, the wireless information apparatus being distinct from the wireless output device with access to digital content, the wireless output device including at least

an output controller for processing digital content, an output engine for rendering digital content, a wireless communication unit for wireless communication, and a memory component for storing data, wherein,

the output controller processes the received content into an output data that is more acceptable as input to the output engine, the output engine renders content onto a medium in accordance with the received output data, the wireless communication unit communicates with one or more wireless information apparatus, and the memory component stores data for rendering, the wireless output device further comprising:

means for establishing a wireless communication with one or more wireless information apparatus;

means for sending and or receiving a security key over wireless communication for enabling restricted wireless communication with one or more wireless computing devices;

means for providing at least an indication of the identity of the wireless output device over wireless communication to at least one wireless information apparatus;

means for receiving at least part of the digital content at the wireless output device from the wireless information apparatus;

means for processing the digital content into an output data that is more acceptable for rendering at the output engine, the output data including at least image data and the processing of the digital content including at least a decoding operation;

means for processing at least a color correction operation on at least part of the output data; and

means for delivering the processed output data to the output engine for rendering,

and wherein the wireless output device is a display device or a projection device, and the output engine renders the content to a display or a projection screen.

The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the means for providing at least an indication of the identity of the wireless output device over wireless communication includes one or more of a wireless output device identification, an intermediate output data indicator, a quality of service indicator, a price indicator, a status indicator, an wireless output device attribute indicator, a rasterization parameter indicator, a format indicator, and a language indicator, individually or in any combination.

32. The wireless output device of claim 30 further comprising means for providing an output device profile or output device object from the wireless output device over wireless communication to the wireless information apparatus.

33. The wireless output device of claim 32 in which the output device profile provided from the wireless output device over wireless communication to the wireless information apparatus includes software component or instruction for running at the wireless information apparatus.

The wireless output device of claim 32 in which the output device profile or object provided from the wireless output device over wireless communication to the wireless information apparatus includes one or more of pointers, identifiers, names paths, addresses and descriptions, individually or in any combination, related an output device object or digital content.

35. The wireless output device of claim 30 further comprising means for performing at least one image processing operation on the intermediate output data;

the image processing operation including one or more of a color correction operation, a color matching operation, a color space conversion, a color management operation, a scaling operation, an interpolation operation, and a decompression operation, individually or in combination.

36. The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the wireless output device further includes means for implementing payment processing as compensation for rendering content on the wireless output device.

37. The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the wireless output device further includes means for implementing job management functionalities with one or more of data output job queuing and spooling.

The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the means for processing the digital content into an output data includes retrieving at least an image data from the digital content, the image data including more than one image layers, and at least one image layer including a distinct resolution from at least one other image layer.

39. The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the wireless output device includes a television.

40. The wireless output device of claim 30 in which the wireless communication is compatible to a Bluetooth®

wireless protocol or one operating within an IEEE 802.11 wireless protocol standard.

41. A wireless output device for rendering on a display or a projection screen digital content managed with an wireless information apparatus, the wireless information apparatus being distinct from the wireless output device, the wireless output device including at least

an output controller for processing image data, a output engine for rendering digital content, a wireless communication unit for wireless communication, and a memory component for storing data, wherein,

the output controller processes the digital content into an output data that is more acceptable as input to the output engine, the output engine renders digital content on a medium in accordance with the received output data, the wireless communication unit communicates with one or more wireless information apparatus, and the memory component stores data for rendering;

the wireless output device further comprising;

means for establishing a wireless communication with one or more wireless information apparatus;

means for implementing a security procedure that limits access to the wireless output device;

means for providing an output device profile or output device object from the wireless output device over wireless communication to one or more wireless information apparatus, the output device profile or output device object including software components or instructions for running at the one or more wireless information apparatus;

means for receiving at least part of the digital content at the wireless output device from the wireless information apparatus;

means for processing the digital content into an output data that is more acceptable for rendering at the output engine, the output data including at least image data and the processing including at least a decoding operation; and

means for delivering the processed output data to the output engine for rendering;

and wherein the wireless output device is a display device or a projection device, and the output engine renders the content to a display or a projection screen.

42. The wireless output device of claim 41 in which the output device profile or object provided from the wireless output device over wireless communication to one or more wireless information apparatus further including one or more pointers, identifiers, names paths, addresses, and descriptions, individually or in any combination, related to an output device object or a digital content.

43. The wireless output device of claim 41 in which the means for processing the digital content into an output data includes retrieving at least an image data from the digital content, the image data including more than one image layers and at least one image layer including a distinct resolution from at least one other image layers.
