Abstract
The present invention is directed to a digital broadcast system and a data processing method. A broadcast signal in which mobile service data and main service data are multiplexed is transmitted and received. Then, in a broadcasting receiver, the program table information including information about a service or a program of an ensemble is parsed according to an identifier of the ensemble in which the mobile service data are multiplexed, in the received broadcast signal. And a mobile service is outputted by using the mobile service data and the parsed program table information.

13. A method of processing broadcast data for a broadcast receiver, the method comprising:

receiving a broadcast signal comprising mobile service data packaged into at least one of Reed-Solomon (RS) frames belonging to an ensemble; demodulating the received broadcast signal; forming the at least one of RS frames from the demodulated broadcast signal; acquiring a service map table (SMT) from the at least one of RS frames, the SMT comprising a header including an ensemble identifier to identify the ensemble and a payload including service acquisition information; and processing an IP datagram of the mobile service data according to the service acquisition information, wherein the broadcast signal further includes fast information channel (FIC) data and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, regularly spaced known data sequences, the FIC data comprising cross layer information for mobile service acquisition, the TPC data comprising FIC version information for identifying an update of the FIC data. - View Dependent Claims (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)

performing RS encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) encoding on mobile service data and a service map table (SMT), thereby packaging the mobile service data and the service map table (SMT) into at least one of RS frames belonging to an ensemble; mapping the at least one of RS frames into a plurality of groups, wherein each group includes a portion of data included in a corresponding RS frame, regularly spaced known data sequences, fast information channel (FIC) data, and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, wherein the FIC data comprises cross layer information for mobile service acquisition, and wherein the TPC data comprises FIC version information for identifying an update of the FIC data; and modulating a broadcast signal including the plurality of groups, wherein the SMT comprises a header including an ensemble identifier to identify the ensemble and a payload including service acquisition information, wherein the FIC data and the TPC data are encoded with a first encoding code, and wherein the at least one of RS frames is encoded with a second encoding code. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29, 30, 31, 32)

an RS frame encoder for performing RS encoding and Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) encoding on mobile service data and a service map table (SMT), thereby packaging the mobile service data and the service map table (SMT) into at least one of RS frames belonging to an ensemble; a group formatter for mapping the at least one of RS frames into a plurality of groups, wherein each group includes a portion of data included in a corresponding RS frame, regularly spaced known data sequences, fast information channel (FIC) data, and transmission parameter channel (TPC) data, wherein the FIC data comprises cross layer information for mobile service acquisition, and wherein the TPC data comprises FIC version information for identifying an update of the FIC data; and a modulator for modulating a broadcast signal including the plurality of groups, wherein the SMT comprises a header including an ensemble identifier to identify the ensemble and a payload including service acquisition information, wherein the FIC data and the TPC data are encoded with a first encoding code, and wherein the at least one of RS frames is encoded with a second encoding code. - View Dependent Claims (34, 35, 36, 37, 38)
