Abstract

Systems and methods for providing a manufacturer portal are disclosed. More specifically, in one embodiment a content distribution system, as a central location for user generated content may also provide manufacturers with a portal to monitor, and participate in, the process of content generation and distribution. This portal may provide the manufacturers with the ability to: view generated content related to that manufacturer and to filter this user generated content utilizing a wide variety of criteria and to generate content which may be responsive to presented generated content. Content generated by a manufacturer through their portal may subsequently be incorporated into one or more retailer'"'"'s site utilizing the content distribution system.

Claims

1. A method for presenting user generated content in a system comprising a set of retailers coupled to a content processing system having a processor, comprising

receiving first user generated content of a first type associated with a plurality of products, where the first user generated content was generated at a plurality of first web sites, each of the first web sites associated with a different one of the set of retailers;

associating the first user generated content with a manufacturer; and

presenting the first user generated content to a user associated with the manufacturer at a second web site.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of reviews, each review associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first review of the set of reviews, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of questions, each question associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the presented first user generated content comprises one or more of the set of questions which do not have an associated answer generated by the manufacturer or which do not have an associated answer.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first question of the set of questions, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

The method of claim 6, further comprising receiving the second user generated content, associating the second user generated content with the first question of the set of questions and incorporating the second user generated content in the first web site associated with the first question, wherein the second user generated content is displayed in association with the first question on the first web site.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the second user generated content is an answer to the first question.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the answer is displayed on the first web site with a badge indicating the answer was provided by the manufacturer.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of reviews, each review associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers

The system of claim 2, wherein the instructions are further operable for providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first review of the set of reviews, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

10. A system for distributing generated content, comprising

a set of first computing devices implementing a set of first web sites, each of the first web sites associated with a different one of a set of retailers

a second computing device implementing a content processing system, the second computing device executing computer instructions for:

receiving first user generated content of a first type associated with a plurality of products, where the first user generated content was generated at a plurality of first web sites, each of the first web sites associated with a different one of the set of retailers;

associating the first user generated content with a manufacturer; and

presenting the first user generated content to a user associated with the manufacturer at a second web site.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of questions, each question associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the presented first user generated content comprises one or more of the set of questions which do not have an associated answer generated by the manufacturer or which do not have an associated answer.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the instructions are further operable for providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first question of the set of questions, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the instructions are further operable for receiving the second user generated content, associating the second user generated content with the first question of the set of questions and incorporating the second user generated content in the first web site associated with the first question, wherein the second user generated content is displayed in association with the first question on the first web site.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the second user generated content is an answer to the first question.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the answer is displayed on the first web site with a badge indicating the answer was provided by the manufacturer.

19. A computer readable media comprising instructions for processing user generated content in a system comprising a set of retailers coupled to a content processing system having a processor, including:

receiving first user generated content of a first type associated with a plurality of products, where the first user generated content was generated at a plurality of first web sites, each of the first web sites associated with a different one of the set of retailers;

associating the first user generated content with a manufacturer; and

presenting the first user generated content to a user associated with the manufacturer at a second web site.

20. The computer readable media of claim 19, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of reviews, each review associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers

The computer readable media of claim 20, wherein the instructions are further operable for providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first review of the set of reviews, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

22. The computer readable media of claim 19, wherein the user generated content comprises a set of questions, each question associated with one of the plurality of products and generated at an associated first web site of one the set of retailers.

23. The computer readable media of claim 22, wherein the presented first user generated content comprises one or more of the set of questions which do not have an associated answer generated by the manufacturer or which do not have an associated answer.

24. The computer readable media of claim 23, wherein the instructions are further operable for providing a content generation tool for the user on the second web site in association with a first question of the set of questions, wherein the content generation tool allows the user to generate second user generated content.

25. The computer readable media of claim 24, wherein the instructions are further operable for receiving the second user generated content, associating the second user generated content with the first question of the set of questions and incorporating the second user generated content in the first web site associated with the first question, wherein the second user generated content is displayed in association with the first question on the first web site.

26. The computer readable media of claim 25, wherein the second user generated content is an answer to the first question.

27. The computer readable media of claim 26, wherein the answer is displayed on the first web site with a badge indicating the answer was provided by the manufacturer.
