Abstract

A system for starting from a dead start position may comprise a towrope winch, and a computing device configured to send and receive data to and from the towrope winch, in which the computing device is configured to operate the towrope winch and watercraft based on data inputted by the user to the computing device. A computer program product for operating a towrope winch from a dead start position may comprise a computer usable medium having computer usable program code embodied therewith, the computer usable program code comprising computer usable program code configured to prompt a user to enter data regarding the operation of the towrope winch from a dead start, and computer usable program code configured to operate the towrope winch based on data inputted by the user.

Claims

1. A system for starting from a dead start position comprising:

a towrope winch; and

a computing device configured to send and receive data to and from the towrope winch;

in which the computing device is configured to operate the towrope winch and watercraft based on data inputted by the user to the computing device.

2. The system of claim 1, in which the data comprises one of a towrope stating length, a dead start reel-in speed, a dead start reel-in acceleration, the overtaking of a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled, the distance at which the watercraft is to overtake the towrope winch, the matching of the speed of the towrope winch, the overtake speed of the watercraft, a dead start skill level, and combinations thereof.

3. The system of claim 1, further comprising a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled, in which the computing device is further configured to send and receive data to and from the watercraft.

4. The system of claim 3, in which the computing device is further configured to control the watercraft to overtake the towrope winch at a predefined distance from the dead start position.

5. The system of claim 4, in which the distance from dead start is user-definable.

6. The system of claim 1, in which the data is used to determine a dead start skill level of the rider.

7. The system of claim 1, in which the data comprises a number of dead start preferences for a number of water sports.

8. The system of claim 7, in which the preferences vary for each water sport.

9. The system of claim 2, in which when the dead start skill level data is entered, the computing device is further configured to define a number of other data.

10. A method for operating a towrope winch from a dead start position, comprising:

prompting a user for data regarding the operation of the towrope winch from a dead start; and

operating the towrope winch based on the data inputted by a user.

11. The method of claim 10, in which the data comprises one of a towrope stating length, a dead start reel-in speed, a dead start reel-in acceleration, the overtaking of a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled, the distance at which the watercraft is to overtake the towrope winch, the matching of the speed of the towrope winch, the overtake speed of the watercraft, a dead start skill level, and combinations thereof.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising operating a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled based on the data inputted by a user.

13. The method of claim 12, in which the step of operating the watercraft comprises overtaking the towrope winch.

14. The method of claim 13, in which the watercraft overtakes the towrope winch at a predefined distance from the dead start position.

15. The method of claim 14, in which the distance at which the watercraft overtakes the towrope winch is user-definable.

16. A computer program product for operating a towrope winch from a dead start position, the computer program product comprising:

a computer usable medium having computer usable program code embodied therewith, the computer usable program code comprising;

computer usable program code configured to prompt a user to enter data regarding the operation of the towrope winch from a dead start; and

computer usable program code configured to operate the towrope winch based on data inputted by the user.

17. The computer program product of claim 16, in which the data comprises one of a towrope stating length, a dead start reel-in speed, a dead start reel-in acceleration, the overtaking of a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled, the distance at which the watercraft is to overtake the towrope winch, the matching of the speed of the towrope winch, the overtake speed of the watercraft, a dead start skill level, and combinations thereof.

18. The computer program product of claim 16, further comprising computer usable program code configured to operate a watercraft to which the towrope winch is coupled based on the data inputted by a user.

19. The computer program product of claim 18, in which the computer usable program code configured to operate a watercraft is further configured to overtake the towrope winch.

20. The computer program product of claim 19, in which the distance at which the watercraft overtakes the towrope winch is a predefined distance from the dead start position.

21. The computer program product of claim 20, in which the distance at which the watercraft overtakes the towrope winch is user-definable.
