Abstract

Systems and methods for an improved webtop, and a monetization engine that better takes advantage of the interests and life segments of a user, are described. A monetization engine embedded in a hyperspace webtop, is provided which includes a user record having a plurality of information items regarding life segments of at least one user, a presentation engine that presents advertisements to at least the user in accordance with at least one information item, and a plurality of tabs, wherein at least one of the tabs is presented to the user in accordance with at least one information item, and wherein each of the plurality of tabs is indicative of content associated with a third party having available for sale to at least one user at least one selected from the group including of a good and a service.

Claims

1. A monetization engine embedded in a hyperspace webtop, comprising:

a user record comprising a plurality of information items regarding life segments of at least one user;

a presentation engine that presents advertisements to at least the user in accordance with at least one of the plurality of information items; and

a plurality of tabs, wherein at least one of said tabs is presented to the user in accordance with the at least one information item, and wherein each of said plurality of tabs is indicative of content associated with a third party having available for sale to at least one user at least one selected from the group consisting of a good and a service.

2. The engine of claim 1, wherein the advertisements presented are limited to at least one group of advertisements selected in advance for use.

3. The engine of claim 1, wherein the plurality of information items are related to at least one third party content and wherein the user has permission to access said at least one third party content.

4. The engine of claim 1, wherein the user record contains a portable avatar.

5. The engine of claim 1, wherein the user record is a virtual trading card.

6. The engine of claim 1, wherein the plurality of information items includes at least one selected from the group consisting of avatar attributes, user name, and user preferences.

11. The engine of claim 1, wherein the plurality of information items includes key life events.

12. The engine of claim 1, further comprising a widget search engine wherein at least third party widget content is located and presented to the user based on at least one of said plurality of information items.

13. The engine of claim 1, further comprising a widget creation engine wherein the user creates widgets for at least the partial capture of code.

14. The engine of claim 13, wherein said widget creation engine presents to the user third party code in accordance with at least one of said plurality of information items.

15. The engine of claim 1, wherein at least one of the advertisements is presented to the user with third party content.

7. A monetization engine, comprising:

a user record comprising a plurality of information items regarding life segments of at least one user of a webtop, wherein the user record includes at least one avatar;

a remote presentation engine that presents advertisements locally to the at least the user in accordance with at least one of the plurality of information items;

a purchasing engine wherein the purchasing engine facilitates purchases for the user and records such purchases with the user record; and

a plurality of tabs, wherein at least one of said tabs is presented to the user in accordance with at least one information item, and wherein each of said plurality of tabs is indicative of content associated with a third party having available for sale to at least one user at least one selected from the group consisting of a good and a service.

8. The engine of claim 7, wherein at least one purchase is made for the at least one avatar.

9. The engine of claim 8, wherein the purchasing engine creates at least one new information item in accordance with said avatar purchase.

10. The engine of claim 9, wherein the advertisements are responsive to the at least one new information item.

16. The engine of claim 7, wherein the plurality of information items includes key life events.

17. The engine of claim 7, further comprising a widget search engine wherein at least third party widget content is located and presented to the user based on at least one of said plurality of information items.

18. The engine of claim 7, further comprising a widget creation engine wherein the user creates widgets for at least the partial capture of code.

19. The engine of claim 18, wherein said widget creation engine presents to the user third party code in accordance with at least one of said plurality of information items.

20. The engine of claim 7, wherein at least one of the advertisements is presented to the user with third party content.

21. The engine of claim 7, wherein third party content is limited by at least one of a plurality of information items in exchange for payment by the third party content provider.

22. A method for monetizing user preferred content, comprising:

providing a user record comprising a plurality of information items regarding life segments of at least one user;

providing a presentation engine that presents advertisements to at least the user in accordance with at least one of the plurality of information items;

providing a plurality of tabs, wherein at least one of said tabs is presented to the user in accordance with the at least one information item, and wherein each of said plurality of tabs is indicative of content associated with a third party having available for sale to at least one user at least one selected from the group consisting of a good and a service; and

providing an advertising evaluation engine that monitors the sale of third party content and provides an advertising value associated with the third party content in comparison to at least one of the plurality of information items.

23. The engine of claim 22, wherein the plurality of information items includes key life events.

24. The engine of claim 22, further comprising a widget search engine wherein at least third party widget content is located and presented to the user based on at least one of said plurality of information items.

25. The engine of claim 22, further comprising a widget creation engine wherein the user creates widgets for at least the partial capture of code.

26. The engine of claim 25, wherein said widget creation engine presents to the user third party code in accordance with at least one of said plurality of information items.

27. The engine of claim 22, wherein at least one of the advertisements is presented to the user with third party content.

28. The engine of claim 22, wherein third party content is limited by at least one of a plurality of information items in exchange for payment by the third party content provider.
