Abstract

A syringe includes a body and a plunger movably disposed within the body. The syringe may be used with an injector including a drive member. The drive member preferably includes at least one pin adapted to form a retractable abutting connection with an interior of a plunger to enable the drive member to retract the plunger with the body of the syringe.

Claims

1. A fluid injection system for use with a syringe having a plunger comprising;

a housing; and

a drive member at least partially disposed within the housing,

wherein the drive member includes at least one pin and one or more outwardly extending flange members;

wherein the at least one pin on the drive member of the injector is adapted to form a retractable abutting connection with an interior of the plunger to enable the drive member to retract the plunger within the body of the syringe.

2. The fluid injection system of claim 1, wherein during advancement of the piston the at least one pin is in a retracted state. constrain
