Abstract
A method of providing programming to a portable wireless music player includes connecting to a music service provider from a remote client and defining a play list at the music service provider through user interaction at the remote client. The player connects to the music service provider over a wireless service network and downloads music to the player from the music service provider in accordance with the previously defined play list. The music or other programming is played at the player.

21. A system for programming a wireless device, the system comprising:

a computing device configured to; receive selections from a user of the computing device to define a play list; and transmit the defined play list directed to a music service provider system; the music service provider system, remote from and in communication with the computing device, and configured to; receive the defined play list; transmit at least a portion of the defined play list to the wireless device via a wireless network; receive a selection of a song from the play list from the wireless device; and automatically transmit the selected song in a burst to the wireless device via the wireless network in response to receiving the selection; and the wireless device, different from the computing device and in communication with the music service provider system, and configured to; receive the at least a portion of the defined play list transmitted by the music service provider system; receive the selection of the song on the play list from a user of the wireless device via an interface on the wireless device; transmit the selection of the song from the play list directed to the music service provider system, the transmission comprising an indication that the wireless device is operable to receive the selected song; and receive and play the selected song transmitted from the music service provider system. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27)

28. A music service provider system for programming a wireless device, the system comprising:

one or more receiver modules configured to; receive a user-defined play list transmitted from a computing device remote from the music service provider system for storage in a database; and receive a selection of a song from the user-defined play list from a wireless device different from the computing device and in communication with the music provider system via a wireless network, the selection comprising an indication that the wireless device is operable to receive the selected song; one or more transmitter modules, in communication with at least one of the one or more receiver modules, and configured to automatically download the selected song in a burst to the wireless device via the wireless network in response to receiving the selection; and a database configured to store the user-defined play list. - View Dependent Claims (29, 30, 31)
