1. ) A method for automatically saving information at a recording system, said method comprising:
- making a call from a first data processing system to a second data processing system wherein said call is completed but not answered by a user of said second data processing system;
invoking at said first data processing system a user request for automatically leaving a message at said second data processing system;
starting background processing at said first data processing system for freeing a user to perform any desired application use at said first data processing system;
determining with said background processing said information for being saved at said second data processing system;
presenting with said background processing said information to said second data processing system for being saved at said second data processing system; and
terminating with said background processing said call.

Abstract
Provided is a system and method for automatically leaving an Outgoing Caller Message (OCM) at a callee'"'"'s (i.e. called) recording system. When a caller is provided with an opportunity to leave a message for a callee (i.e. called), the caller can select to have a preconfigured message automatically presented for being recorded. If a caller reaches an OutGoing Message (OGM) from a callee'"'"'s system because the callee does not answer, the caller can opt to automatically leave an OCM instead of spending time listening to the OGM and then leaving a message. An OCM background thread of processing is started for taking over the active call, and the initial active call processing thread terminates for releasing user interface focus so the caller is free to perform any other application processing while background OCM processes occurs. The OCM background thread determines the best OCM to leave and then automatically leaves the OCM at the callee'"'"'s system before terminating the call. The OCM background thread may also wait for recognizing a recording prompt. Similarly, at the callee'"'"'s recording system, an OGM is background thread of processing handles an unanswered incoming call and determines the best OGM to provide to a caller. The OGM background thread enables a user to perform any other application processing while background OGM processing occurs.
