Abstract

A self-authenticating credit card method (1100) includes: inputting a unique identification (105) to an input device (200) on a credit card (102); comparing the input unique identification (105) with a stored unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102); and providing an output (104) from the credit card (102) when the received unique identification (105) matches the unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102).

Claims

1. A self-authenticating credit card method (1100) comprising:

inputting an input unique identification (105) to an input device on a credit card (102);

comparing the input unique identification (105) with a stored unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102); and

providing an output (104) from the credit card (102) when the input unique identification (105) matches the stored unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102).

2. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising receiving the output (104) in a transaction terminal (106) for conducting a credit card (102) transaction.

3. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising:

receiving the output (104) in a transaction terminal (106);

sending the output (104) for approval or rejection of the credit card (102); and

returning approval or rejection of the credit card (102) to the transaction terminal (106).

4. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising terminating the output (104) after a predetermined time or erasing the output (104) after a predetermined number of mismatches between the input unique identification (105) and the stored unique identification (105).

5. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising encrypting the output (104) or using an encryption key (906) in the credit card (102).

6. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising storing or outputting information (104) including purchase history, an activation log, or a combination thereof.

7. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising displaying credit card (102) information including the output (104), credit card (102) status, a barcode output (104), or a combination thereof.

8. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising fixing the stored unique identification (105) within the credit card (102).

9. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 further comprising powering (210) the credit card (102) from an internal battery, an inductance source, a photovoltaic source, an electrical source, or a combination thereof.

10. The method (1100) as claimed in claim 1 wherein providing the output (104) includes transmitting the output (104) by contact transmitting or wirelessly transmitting or a combination thereof.

11. A self-authenticating credit card (102) system comprising:

an input device (200) for inputting an input unique identification (105) on a credit card (102);

a processor (202) for comparing the input unique identification (105) with a stored unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102); and

an output device (206) for providing an output (104) from the credit card (102) when the input unique identification (105) matches the unique identification (105) stored within the credit card (102).

12. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising a transaction terminal (106) for receiving the output (104) for conducting a credit card (102) transaction.

13. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising:

a transaction terminal (106) for receiving the output (104) and sending the output (104) for approval or rejection of the credit card (102); and

a transaction approval system (110) for returning approval or rejection of the credit card (102) to the transaction terminal (106).

14. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising a processor (202) for terminating the output (104) after a predetermined time or erasing the output (104) after a predetermined number of mismatches between the input unique identification (105) and the stored unique identification (105).

15. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising a processor (202) for encrypting the output (104) or using an encryption key (906) in the credit card (102).

16. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising memory (902) for storing or outputting information including purchase history, an activation log, or a combination thereof.

17. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising a display (604) for displaying credit card (102) information including the output (104), credit card (102) status, a barcode output (104), or a combination thereof.

18. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising circuitry (902) for fixing the stored unique identification (105) within the credit card (102).

19. The system as claimed in claim 11 further comprising circuitry (210) for powering the credit card (102) from an internal battery, an inductance source, a photovoltaic source, an electrical source, or a combination thereof.

20. The system as claimed in claim 11 wherein the output device (206) includes circuitry for transmitting the output (104) by contact transmitting or wirelessly or a combination thereof.
