Abstract

A system, method and computer program product for configuration of multiple monitor layout displays, including detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system; configuring layouts for the multiple monitors, including, configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method for configuration of multiple monitor layout displays, the method comprising:

detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system;

configuring layouts for the multiple monitors, including,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

detecting a presence of a single monitor installed in a computer system;

detecting a presence of a configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying the layout only on the single monitor.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of detecting the presence of the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the step of configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the step of displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system is conducted by a at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the step of configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by a user in a user interface of at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the step of displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is presented by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one default configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying a default configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through the user interface by a user.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

recording and redisplaying for a user at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors;

displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying a previously user-configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through at least one of an operating system and computer application'"'"'s user interface by a user.

7. A computer program product for configuration of multiple monitor layout displays and including one or more computer readable instructions embedded on a computer readable medium and configured to cause one or more computer processors to perform the steps of:

detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system;

configuring layouts for the multiple monitors, including,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors.

8. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising:

detecting a presence of a single monitor installed in a computer system;

detecting a presence of a configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying the layout only on the single monitor.

9. The computer program product of claim 7, wherein the step of detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the step of configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the step of displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

10. The computer program product of claim 7, wherein the step of detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the step of configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by a user in a user interface of at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the step of displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is presented by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

11. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising:

displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one default configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying a default configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through the user interface by a user.

12. The computer program product of claim 7, further comprising:

recording and redisplaying for a user at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors;

displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors; and

displaying a previously user-configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through at least one of an operating system and computer application'"'"'s user interface by a user.

13. A computer implemented system for configuration of multiple monitor layout displays, the system comprising:

means for detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system;

means for configuring layouts for the multiple monitors, including,

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

means for displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors.

14. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

means for detecting a presence of a single monitor installed in a computer system;

means for detecting a presence of a configured layout for multiple monitors; and

means for displaying the layout only on the single monitor.

15. The system of claim 13, wherein the means for detecting the presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the means for configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the means for displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

16. The system of claim 13, wherein the means for detecting a presence of multiple monitors installed in a computer system is conducted by at least one of an operating system and a computer application;

wherein the means for configuring layouts for the multiple monitors is conducted by a user in a user interface of at least one of an operating system and a computer application and includes,

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of corresponding displays of the multiple monitors, and

means for configuring at least one of size, shape and location of content for display on the multiple monitors; and

wherein the means for displaying the configured layouts on the multiple monitors is presented by at least one of an operating system and a computer application.

17. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

means for displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one default configured layout for multiple monitors; and

means for displaying a default configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through the user interface by a user.

18. The system of claim 13, further comprising:

means for recording and redisplaying for a user at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors;

means for displaying in at least one of an operating system user interface and a computer application user interface at least one previously user-configured layout for multiple monitors; and

means for displaying a previously user-configured layout on the multiple monitors when the layout is selected through at least one of an operating system and computer application'"'"'s user interface by a user.
