Abstract
Interactive collaboration within a secure, server-based social networking community integrated with a secured document management system includes at least one of a plurality of professional functionalities and a plurality of integrative functionalities to members having a member virtual identity within the community. Members may assemble into a network of members that excludes at least one member of the community. Integrative functionalities include allowing networks of members to share documents in a remote secured environment and exclude access to documents from those not belonging to a particular network. Members may also access software applications to remotely create, delete, edit and manage documents and view information about documents in a plurality of customizable and selectable viewing options.

21. A method for interactively collaborating within a secure, server-based social networking community, comprising:

a plurality of members, each of such members owning at least one member profile; a first network of member profiles that excludes at least one member of the community, whereby members of the first network share a duty of confidentiality relating to a first set of documents and share access to such first set of documents in a secured remote environment, such that members not belonging to the first network do not have access to the first set of documents; an administrator of the first network who enables access of a member not currently having access to the first set of documents by adding the member to the first network; a second network of member profiles that excludes at least one member of the community, whereby members of the second network share a duty of confidentiality relating to a second set of documents and share access to such second set of documents, such that members not belonging to the second network do not have access to the second set of documents; an administrator of the second network who enables access of a member not currently having access to the second set of documents by adding the member profile of the user to the second network; at least one of the members of the first network is not a member of the second network; at least one of the members of the second network is not a member of the first network, and does not have a duty of confidentiality relating to at least one of the documents of the first set of documents; at least one member of the first network is also a member of the second network; a document management tool comprised of at least one software application chosen from a group consisting of a word processor application and a spreadsheet application, whereby the document management tool enables members of the first network to remotely manage documents of the first set of documents, and members of the second network to remotely manage documents of the second set of documents; and the document management tool allows the member of both the first network and the second network to view a window simultaneously having a first folder storing documents of the first set of documents and a second folder storing documents of the second set of documents, wherein one of the documents stored in the first folder has been edited by the at least one software application, and the member of both the first network and the second network can click and drag the document edited by the one software application into the second folder such that the document edited by the one software application can be accessed by the members of the second network and cannot be accessed by at least one member who is not a member of the first network or the second network. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26)

a plurality of members, each member owning at least one member profile; a first network of member profiles that excludes at least one member of the community, whereby members of the first network share a duty of confidentiality relating to a first set of documents and share access to such first set of documents in a secured remote environment, such that members not belonging to the first network do not have access to the first set of documents; an administrator of the first network who enables access of a member not currently having access to the first set of documents by adding the member to the first network; a second network of member profiles that excludes at least one member of the community, whereby members of the second network share a duty of confidentiality relating to a second set of documents and share access to such second set of documents, such that members not belonging to the second network do not have access to the second set of documents; an administrator of the second network who enables access of a member not currently having access to the second set of documents by adding the member profile of the user to the second network; at least one of the members of the first network is not a member of the second network; at least one of the members of the second network is not a member of the first network, and does not have a duty of confidentiality relating to at least one of the documents of the first set of documents; at least one member of the first network is also a member of the second network; a document management tool comprised of at least one software application chosen from a group consisting of a word processor application and a spreadsheet application, whereby the document management tool enables members of the first network to remotely manage documents of the first set of documents, and members of the second network to remotely manage documents of the second set of documents; and the document management tool allows the member owning the member of both the first network and the second network to view a window simultaneously having an open document of the first set of documents stored in a first folder storing documents of the first set of documents, a second folder storing documents of the second set of documents, wherein the open document has been edited by the at least one software application, and the member of both the first network and the second network can click and drag the open document into the second folder such that the open document can be accessed by the members of the second network and cannot be accessed by at least one member who is not a member of the first network or the second network. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29, 30, 31, 32)

33. A method for interactively collaborating within a secure, server-based social networking community, comprising:

a plurality of members, each member owning at least one member profile, wherein a plurality of such member profiles allows the owner of each of such plurality of such member profiles to add another member of the community as a contact, a plurality of the member profiles each contains contact information of the member owning such member profile, and the contact information of each of a plurality of the member profiles containing contact information can be edited by the member owning the member profile; at least one network of members that excludes at least one member of the community, whereby members of the network share access to a set of documents in a secured remote environment, such that members not members of the network do not have access to the set of documents; an administrator of the network who enables access of a member not currently having access to the set of documents by adding the member to the network; a document management tool comprised of at least one software application chosen from a group consisting of a word processor application and a spreadsheet application, whereby the document management tool enables members of the network to remotely manage documents of the set of documents; and wherein contact information from at least one of the member profiles is imported into a document edited by the at least one software application. - View Dependent Claims (34, 35)
