Abstract

A method of synchronizing a mobile device with a computing terminal, comprising in a first stage, synchronizing between a server and one of the mobile device and the computing terminal, and in a second stage, synchronizing between the server and the other of the mobile device and the computing terminal, wherein the second stage of synchronizing being permissible only upon verification of an identifier associated with content selected for transfer during the first stage of synchronizing.

Claims

1. A method of synchronizing a mobile device with a computing terminal via a server, said mobile device comprising a communication interface and a memory, the method comprising:

transmitting a first instruction, being an instruction to transmit content from said computing terminal to a server, from said communication interface to said computing terminal;

transmitting a second instruction, being an instruction to transmit said content from said server to said mobile device, from said communication interface to said server; and

receiving said content from said computing terminal at said communication interface and storing said content in said memory.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said second instruction comprises an identifier associated with said content.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting said first instruction comprises transmitting said first instruction to said computing terminal via said server.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein receiving said content comprises receiving said content from said computing terminal via said server.

5. A method of synchronizing a computing terminal with a mobile device via a server, said computing terminal comprising a communication interface and a memory, the method comprising:

storing content in said memory;

receiving a first instruction at said communication interface to transmit content from said memory to a server;

selecting an identifier for association with said content; and

responsive to said first instruction, transmitting said content and said identifier from said communication interface to said mobile device.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein receiving said first instruction comprises receiving said first instruction from one of said mobile device and a home computing terminal.

7. The method of claim 5, wherein selecting said identifier comprises generating said identifier if said identifier does not exist, and retrieving said identifier from said memory if said identifier does exist.

8. The method of claim 5, wherein transmitting said content comprises transmitting said content to said mobile device via said server.

9. The method of claim 5, wherein said computing terminal is a third-party provider of electronic content, and wherein said first instruction comprises transactional information.

10. A method of synchronizing a computing terminal with a mobile device via a server, said server comprising a memory and a communication interface, the method comprising:

receiving content at said communication interface from one of said computing terminal and said mobile device;

storing said content in said memory in association with a first identifier;

receiving at said communication interface an instruction to transmit said content to the other of said computing terminal and said mobile device, said instruction comprising a second identifier;

upon verification that said second identifier matches said first identifier, transmitting said content to said other of said computing terminal and said mobile device.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

prior to receiving said content, receiving a prior instruction at said communication interface to transmit content from said computing terminal to said server; and

transmitting said prior instruction from said communication interface to said computing terminal upon verification that said computing terminal is turned on.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein receiving said instruction comprises receiving said instruction from one of said mobile device, said computing terminal and a home computing terminal.

13. The method of claim 10, wherein said memory comprises a dedicated file storage location associated with said first identifier and wherein storing said content in said memory comprises storing said content in said dedicated file storage location.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein said dedicated file storage location provides authenticated session accessibility based on verification of said first and second identifiers.

15. A method of synchronizing a mobile device with a computing terminal, the method comprising;

in a first stage, synchronizing between a server and one of said mobile device and said computing terminal; and

in a second stage, synchronizing between said server and the other of said mobile device and said computing terminal upon verification of an identifier associated with content selected for transfer during said first stage of synchronizing.

The method of claim 15, wherein said first stage of synchronizing is initiated through synchronization instructions inputted at one of said mobile device, said computing terminal, and a separate device not subject to either stage of said synchronizing, and wherein said second stage of synchronizing is initiated through synchronization instructions inputted at another of said mobile device and said computing terminal.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein said synchronization instructions are transferred through said server, and wherein said synchronization instructions are queued at said server in event that one of said mobile device and said computing terminal is turned off.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein transfer of content between said server, said mobile device and said computing terminal is bi-directional.

19. The method of claim 15, wherein said first and second stages of synchronizing comprise transfer of synchronization instructions, and wherein transfer of content occurs directly between said mobile device and said computing terminal based on said synchronization instructions.

20. A method of synchronizing content between a computing terminal and a selected destination, the method comprising:

in a first stage, synchronizing between a server and said computing terminal; and

in a second stage, synchronizing between said server and a selected destination upon verification of an identifier associated with content selected for transfer during said first stage of synchronizing.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein said first stage of synchronizing is initiated through synchronization instructions inputted at one of a mobile device, said computing terminal, and a separate device not subject to said synchronizing.

22. The method of claim 20, wherein said computing terminal is a 3^rd party provider of electronic content, and said selected destination is a communication device separate from said mobile device.
