NETWORK APPLICATION VERSIONING
First Claim
1. A computer-implemented method for updating a network application, the network application having a first version that is currently installed, comprising:
- a) receiving an update version of at least a portion of the network application;
b) in response to receiving the update version, performing actions including;
i) automatically performing a backup of the first version to generate a first version backup;
ii) automatically deploying the update version;
iii) automatically monitoring the deployed update version; and
iv) selectively deploying the first version based on the monitoring of the deployed update version.

Abstract
A system and method for managing application version changes on a network server. A backup is made of a deployed application version. When an update version of the application is to be deployed, a backup of the current application, including dynamic data, is performed. The update version is deployed and automatically monitored. If the update version is determined to be healthy, it is backed up. If it is determined to not be healthy, the previous version is automatically retrieved and deployed. An application skeleton may be automatically generated to facilitate comparison and backups of the application.

11. A computer-readable medium comprising computer program instructions for updating a network application, the network application having a first version and a current version, the program instructions executable by a processor to perform actions including:
-
a) deploying the first version of the network application; b) automatically generating a list of network application components by analyzing the first version of the network application to determine static components and dynamic components; c) automatically performing a first backup of the network application based on the list of network application components; d) in response to receiving an update version of at least a portion of the network application; i) automatically performing a backup of the current version, including dynamic data, to generate a second version backup; ii) deploying the update version; iii) automatically monitoring the deployed update version to determine compliance with a specified criteria, the monitoring including analyzing communications sent by the update version; iv) if the update version is determined to not comply with the specified criteria, deploying the second backup version. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15)

16. A computer-based system for updating a network application, the network application having a first version that is currently deployed comprising:
-
a) a mechanism for receiving an update version of at least a portion of the network application; b) backup means for, in response to receiving the update version, automatically performing a backup of the first version; c) a mechanism that deploys the update version of the application; d) monitoring means for, in response to deploying the update version, automatically monitoring the deployed update version; and e) reversion means for selectively automatically deploying the first version, based on the monitoring of the deployed update version. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20)
