1. A method for determining the orientation of an optical device, the method having the steps of:

  • associating said optical device with at least one first data carrier at a first predetermined position, and at least one second data carrier at a second predetermined position, causing said at least one first data carrier to emit a first signal to an external means and causing said at least one second data carrier to emit a second signal to said external means, processing said first signal and said second signal to determine the first coordinates of said at least one first data carrier and the second coordinates of said at least one second data carrier, with respect to a reference point, to provide a relationship between said first coordinates, second coordinates and said reference point, comparing said relationship to a predefined relationship between said first predetermined position and said second predetermined position with respect to said reference point in a preferred orientation of said optical device.
