Abstract

A device which allows the insertion of a flowable filling material through at least part of a dental implant inside the body to touch the bone. The implant can be hollow and to have a side perforation connecting the space inside the implant with the surrounding of the implant. This perforation can be placed initially outside the alveolar ridge. The device can allow immediate direct contact between the filling material and the tissue and for the displacement of the soft tissues covering the bone.

Claims

1. A device for inserting a flowable biocompatible material adjacent a dental implant in the process of dental implant surgery, said device comprising:

a dental implant for insertion through the alveolar ridge, at least part of said implant being hollow to form an elongated tube, the sidewalls of said tube have a perforation connecting said tube to the surrounding environment of said implant, said implant being connected to a source of a flowable filling material to allow the insertion of said flowable material from said source through said tube inside the body to be in contact with the bone.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein said alveolar ridge having a predetermined height and said perforation positioned at a predetermined distance from the distal end of said implant corresponding to said height so said perforation being outside the bone.

3. The device of claim 1 wherein said implant has an outer surface with a thread for threadedly engaging the bone of said alveolar ridge when said implant is inserted into said alveolar ridge.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the proximal end of said implant further comprising an abutment connection to support a dental prosthesis.

5. The device of claim 4, wherein said device further includes an injecting element having said flowable material, said injecting element being configured for the insertion of said flowable material from said injecting element through said implant inside the body.

6. The device of claim 5, wherein said injecting mechanism being connected to an insertion tool, said insertion tool configured to rotate said implant to allow its insertion inside said alveolar bone.

7. The device of claim 6, wherein said device being configured to allow said insertion of said implant and said insertion of said flowable material to be done simultaneously.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein said flowable material promotes the growth of bone.

9. The device of claim 1, wherein at least part of said implant being inside a covering tube.

10. The device of claim 9, wherein said covering tube being connected to a rigid plate.

11. The device of claim 10, wherein said rigid plate being connected to a membrane.

12. The device of claim 1, wherein said implant has more than one perforation.

13. The device of claim 10, wherein said covering tube has a sealing element.

14. The device of claim 10, wherein said source being connected to said covering tube.

15. The device of claim 10, wherein said device includes a distracting mechanism for the displacement of said plate from said bone.

16. The device of claim 15, wherein said distraction mechanism being activated by rotating a screw.

17. The device of claim 15, wherein said plate being fixated by a stabilizing element to prevent micro-motion.

18. The device of claim 1, wherein said device includes a second conduit for the insertion of a flowable material.

19. The device of claim 18, wherein said second conduit is a second dental implant.

20. The device of claim 18, wherein said implant being connected to said second conduit by a rigid substantially horizontal plate.
