1. Procedure for the design of intraocular lenses, wherein it comprises the following stages:

  • a) Definition of a pseudophakic eye model, which consists of;

    i. an aphakic eye model that comprises various optical surfaces, refractive indices and thicknesses that describe the optical elements of the eye without the crystalline lens, andii. an intraocular lens model that comprises a succession of optical surfaces and separated by layers of material described by their thickness and refractive index,b) Definition of a merit function in various dimensions that relates analytically the quality of the image in the retina with the optical and geometric parameters of the pseudophakic eye model, wherein the parameters of the aphakic eye model are established as fixed terms and the parameters of the intraocular lens are considered variable terms, andc) The algorithmic optimisation of the merit function above by analytical and numerical means in order to find one or several global minimums from which the optimum parameters of the intraocular lens can be obtained for the established pseudophakic eye model.
